Okay, here's the dealio
So here's the dealio: A Teaspoon And An Open Mind (the main Doctor Who fic archive) underwent a changing of the mods and implemented some changes in policy.

About the same time, user MelindaKitty was banned for using a homophobic slur in an essay and being abusive to moderators. Also, as it turns out, misclassifying one of her essay as a story. (There are screencaps.) She was kind enough to post the essay in question so we could see how entirely not like a story it is.

She was not very happy about it. Neither were either of her spouses or her friends. But the mods and their ilk kept their own comments on the affair behind f-lock and so things quieted down for a while.

Then came the Fighting Spoon. Fighting Spoon's purpose was to provide a place for people to bitch about the recent policy changes at the Teaspoon. It also created an lj comm which claims it can "achive your fics but you should use friend only posts there - so Teaspoon Mods don't know who's with me" (which ignores the fact that anyone can see who's joined a comm.)

Meanwhile, in the journal itself, Fighting Spoon starts out by reposting an email where it complains about how it took a whole twelve to fourteen hours for their fic to get approved now that submissions are moderated. In the comments, moderation of submissions is called repressive pseudo-fascism and V for Vendetta is quoted channeled.

Wank breaks out on all sides! There is tl;dr rant about how mods should be democratically elected and that the whole thing is in violation of the First Amendment, never mind that the mod that banned her is SCOTTISH. Melindakitty's husband reposts the Godwin-invoking lyric-filled rant he'd emailed the mods with. People get confused about who swore at the mod. A debate on the nature of fascism is held. Comparisons are made to Animal Farm. The spirit of Aldous Huxley is called upon. Someone tries to play peacemaker which doesn't work.

All the while Fighting Spoon is backpedalling furiously and MelindaKitty just wants to get back to policy.

About the only thing missing from this is Rosewank, but don't worry, someone's trying to start one in the wank report!

"Either of her spouses"? How does she have time to write?

She writes fic on the back of her polygamy court documents.

I just hope we don't find out that one of them is a horse.

Given that it's Doctor Who it might be a poodle or an ape.

Well, as long as the poodle has hands...

I don't think Captain Spike's poodle was the sentient kind with hands. I think it was an actual poodle. With the special poodle haircut and everything, yes.

Damn, I forgot Captain Spike and his poodle. I went straight for the book poodles, which were sentient and had hands. Although, I'm pretty sure they still had the special poodle haircut.

Is it a bad sign that I've completely forgotten the Torchwood episode from a week ago?

Obviously Captain Spike used to be madly in love with a book poodle once, long ago, and now the mere sight of any poodle gets him horny at the thought of her. In fact, that very fic is probably being written right now, I'm sure. The heroine's name is Serena and she's very beautiful and has color-changing eyes.

I'd write it myself, but I haven't actually read that particular book.

Is it a bad sign that I've completely forgotten the Torchwood episode from a week ago?

No, that's just as it should be. I don't remember the popcorn I probably ate last week sometime, either, but it was probably pretty good and maybe even a little cheesy if it was the right kind, and I'm sure I enjoyed it at the time.

Well, that's okay then - as long as the beautiful color-changing eyes don't clash with her shiny waist-length and brightly colored fur. And she has Ravyn in her name somewhere. And possibly wings.

And curves in all the right places! Which is a little odd for a poodle-person, I will admit, but dammit, it's required!

How sad is it that it took me a minute to figure out who you meant by 'Captain John'? Apparently I've called him 'Captain Spike' so often now that anything else just doesn't look right. Oh, dear.

Wait, his name ISN'T Captain Spike? Because I watched repeatedly and I'm pretty sure that guy in the ringmaster suit was Spike. From the future. Or something. He drank vodka, had an accent of shady origin, liked to kill people and punch (and make out with) dark-haired, immortal, broody boys. . .are you sure that's not Spike?

Reposted because OMG I am bad at HTML.
