Okay, here's the dealio
So here's the dealio: A Teaspoon And An Open Mind (the main Doctor Who fic archive) underwent a changing of the mods and implemented some changes in policy.

About the same time, user MelindaKitty was banned for using a homophobic slur in an essay and being abusive to moderators. Also, as it turns out, misclassifying one of her essay as a story. (There are screencaps.) She was kind enough to post the essay in question so we could see how entirely not like a story it is.

She was not very happy about it. Neither were either of her spouses or her friends. But the mods and their ilk kept their own comments on the affair behind f-lock and so things quieted down for a while.

Then came the Fighting Spoon. Fighting Spoon's purpose was to provide a place for people to bitch about the recent policy changes at the Teaspoon. It also created an lj comm which claims it can "achive your fics but you should use friend only posts there - so Teaspoon Mods don't know who's with me" (which ignores the fact that anyone can see who's joined a comm.)

Meanwhile, in the journal itself, Fighting Spoon starts out by reposting an email where it complains about how it took a whole twelve to fourteen hours for their fic to get approved now that submissions are moderated. In the comments, moderation of submissions is called repressive pseudo-fascism and V for Vendetta is quoted channeled.

Wank breaks out on all sides! There is tl;dr rant about how mods should be democratically elected and that the whole thing is in violation of the First Amendment, never mind that the mod that banned her is SCOTTISH. Melindakitty's husband reposts the Godwin-invoking lyric-filled rant he'd emailed the mods with. People get confused about who swore at the mod. A debate on the nature of fascism is held. Comparisons are made to Animal Farm. The spirit of Aldous Huxley is called upon. Someone tries to play peacemaker which doesn't work.

All the while Fighting Spoon is backpedalling furiously and MelindaKitty just wants to get back to policy.

About the only thing missing from this is Rosewank, but don't worry, someone's trying to start one in the wank report!

Allegory!Fic?

Ten shook his head and returned his attention to the
screen. “Like I was saying, someone protested a word
and reported her to a moderator. The moderator asked
her in public to remove the word or have her writing
deleted.”

“What word?” Rose asked.

“Oh, yeah. Like I’m going to use it and be subject to
the same protest.”

“Fair play.” Rose nodded. “They asked her in public?
What, in her reviews?”

Ten nodded. “More like demanded, actually.”

“Why not contact her privately, give her a chance to
correct it before broadcasting it all over the site?”
Jack asked.

WHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT?

Canon characters support her in badfic!

That's all sorts of special.

Not since the glory days of Davey-Kins Gonterman have I seen such a spectacular case of "fanfic in which the canon characters come to the defense of the fanfic author". If she draws a revenge comic all bets are off.
Oh god please let her draw a revenge comic.

Is grudge!fic a fairly common occurrence?

Also (to everyone): Did MelindaKitty write the fic titles mentioned, or are Ten, Rose, and Jack talking about a fictional author meant to represent her?

She wrote the titles mentioned, yes.

So not an allegory then. That makes it creepier in my opinion.

Dunno if I'd call it common but it's not unheard of, that's for sure.

Martha looked up from the book she was reading. "Jesus H Christ, Rose, I think you should read what she did to you before you defend her."

"Did she make you and me have hot lesbian sex?" asked Rose, as casually as possible.

"No, that's the Doctor's fanfic."

The alien blushed. Damn these women and his failure to log out of ff.net before letting them go on ebay!

I really hope that's your addendum and not part of the original. I think it must be, as it's clever, and the person who wrote the original, um, isn't.

And I thought the Doctor stuck to Angel/Spike slash.

I admit, I made that bit up. :(

The Doctor writes Spike/Angel and even more sekritly writes stories about various companions having sex with each other. Almost all of them contain the line "Why don't you join us, Doctor?"

The whore!

Nine, of course, writes angsty Angel/Buffy in which Angel watches Buffy's relationships with Riley and Spike from a distance and broods. Occasionally, he'll indulge in an Angel/Buffy/souled!Spike threesome, but Angel won't feel good about it afterward, thinking about how he can't drag them down into his dark, lonely world . . .

Needless to say, it's all Snow Patrol songfic.

Seven wrote Angel/Faith. It was all about Angel coming to terms with needing to do bad things to save the world while teaching Faith how to slay things and curing her of her emo. Only he didn't think it was Angel/Faith so much as gen, it just looked hella shippy to other people when Angel and Faith cleaned each other's faces with spit.

*is still trying REALLY HARD not to ship Seven/Ace*

See, to me, Seven/Ace is a bit more like Giles/Buffy, i.e. Huge Frickin' Squick territory.

I think the only thing that would make that better would be something a la Snapewives:

I've just received emails from the lurking canon characters, and they support me!
