"OMG! You pointed out her plagiarism, you horrible meanie!"
Over on LJ, [info]psycholullaby posts about some plagiarized FMA fan art. [info]dramaqueen9731 posted a "You hurt her feelings! Shame on you!" comment then deleted it, but [info]psycholullaby posted it in an ETA for posterity. Not to be outdone, some other naive schmuck poor soul tries to makes a similar point. Needless to say, no one on the thread busy it

At some point, according to her ETAs, the plagiarized art was taken down, and the offender, esteltinuviel, posts a Heidipology comparing herself to Gandhi and MLK Jr.

[info]psycholullaby isn't pleased, and posts the screencaps of the plagiarized artwork.

It's kinda nice to see FMA wank. It's been a while.

ETA: For your viewing pleasure, comparisons of the artwork in question. Tip o' the hat to [info]onaga for grabbing the link, because I was lazy.

I think this is the first FMA since I got in the fandom, which is weirdly pleasing.

Though the fact I was oblivious to this whole thing until it showed up here possibly shows how involved in the fandom I actually am...

P.S. Comparing herself to Ghandi = all-time new wanky low.

Even listing out all that I am labels and devalues those facets of my personality; those who know me understand those facets without me enumerating them.

This is the best way to get out of actually demonstrating that you're a good person ever.

It's all well and good to catch somebody on something if you find something wrong, and then correct them...

But it's another entirely to just start wanking her on your LJ. You say that you had no intention of starting wank, but by posting this entry you automatically said something that would hurt another's feelings and sully their reputation.

I thought wanking in your own livejournal was relatively un-wanky, unless you went linking to your livejournal entry in communities or some such. She could have f-locked it, but I'm not sure she was wanky, even so ...

Apologies are sought, but the truth is overlooked and contorted in battles of diction, webs of deceit, jealousies, and petty feuds that are sought to be perpetuated for the sake of a few....I am sorry that a difference of a few words on one site means a complete and irrevocable distortion.

If that "a difference of a few words" means, "my failure to credit the artist", then maybe, just maybe ... you fail. Also, your language would not be out of place in the Song of Ice and Fire series (which I deeply love. But come on, who needs that sort of melodrama in day to day conversation?).

This is too hilarious and too familiar, right down to the DEFENSIVETUDES. Someone on dA copied a bunch of my art and didn't even say she had used mine as a reference (she said she used 'drawings and photos as references' or some vague crap like that). When someone found her out and alerted me, I told her very politely to remove the three pieces. She did it for two, but hid my comments on another and moved it to her scraps.

So then I made a post about art stealing in my journal just to light a fire under her, and though it worked and she deleted the final piece, she started sending me notes about how rude I was being in leaving my journal entry up and that she just made a mistake and I wasn't being an adult and on and on and on.

MMMMMMMMHM. I never want to take that entry down.

Why do they keep calling it a "mistake"? An error in judgment or class or something, sure, but they're always making it sound like they didn't know that the art they were tracing/copying/straight-up-ripping-off wasn't theirs. "Oh, I really wasn't just re-tracing my own lines for clean up? Whoop, my mistake!"

*stares at comparison post*

Gotta say, I think the plagiarizer could use more practice tracing things. So much disharmony of linework--I don't think she even understood half the lines she was including in her version.

Still, at least that's (weird as it feels to say it) a fair amount of work for a plagiary. I've had pictures of mine stolen before where the art thief posted the image straight into their gallery, complete with "artist commentary" on the process of drawing it... and didn't even take MY NAME off of it. (It was small white text on plain black border too--would've been perfectly easy to remove! XD)
