Just to make sure we have no further confusion, the "Maura Labingi" referred to here is the LJ user maura_labingi. I'm mauralabingi on LJ. Two different people. I've had people mix me up with her before, but I must say, never so entertainingly.

By the way, this Maura Labingi is not swearing off slash. Nor do I have problems with homosexuality; in fact, this Maura Labingi is a certified muff-divin' woman-lovin' enthusiastically Sapphic fool. Which really just makes the whole thing that much more amusing, doesn't it?

sorry for my part in the confusion. I don't know either of you, I just tripped over that twat and went to town on her.

So, is that a name of a character from something I'm not familiar with? I'm confused.

"Maura Labingi" is the translation Tolkien gave of the name "Frodo Baggins" in Westron, the language he invented as the hobbits' native tongue. So in LotR fan circles, it's not an uncommon moniker. And I also liked it because it sounds like a hysterical Italian opera singer. :-)

Ahhh! See, to me, it just sounds like a female name. That's what I get for not being able to make it through the Ring books.

Hee! You too, eh? *hi-fives*

Well, I made it through the first one. It just didn't impress me enough to make me want to read the rest. The Prof. sure was in love with the sound of his own typewriter, methinks.

I stopped at the end of the chapter when Frodo offers Galadriel the Ring. I closed the book, thought "I really don't give a rat's ass about any of these characters," and put it in the "return to library TOMORROW" pile.

For the longest time I thought you were Irish-Italian.

Ladies, ladies!! There's enough of Sancho Maura to satisfy everyone! No need to grapple sinuously, growling and shredding each others blouses like the hot, lustful she-cats you are...

What I want to know is, why the similarity between the names? Is it a fandom thing, or is Maura Labingi your real name, or what?

easily-confused!M
