You don't know the history of feminism like I do!
A recent [info]ohnotheydidnt post features a list of the most misogynistic movies of the decade. On cue, the wank commences, with responses ranging from "feminists suck" to "I'm not a feminist but..." to "this is kinda silly but I agree with a few points" to "it's just entertainment lol".

As a woman I'm so fucking sick of feminists and their blah blah bullshit. Instead of being out there living their lives and proving that they are worth every bit as much as a man, they sit and bitch and moan about how hard it is for them doing fuck all.

Most sexist of all: reducing every female character to a representation of all womankind, ignoring characterization and any hint of individual personality. Feminism is so 1970.

this is why i LOVE sex and the city ( i know it is not a movie). they truly are what real women are like. sure, some can at times be stereotypical but aren't we all a little bitchy, sexy, needy, and impulsive sometimes? (What?)


In conclusion: I needed a reason to not see Superbad?

I hated that movie.

I really had high hopes for it, thinking maybe it'd be about a guy that dumps a girl for being too mousy/boring and then finds out she's a superheroine and wants to get back together with her but she wants nothing to do with him because if she's not good enough for him out of costume, she refuses to be the object of a hero-worship fetish.

And maybe he tries to go evil to get her attention but he sucks at it (yay comic relief time?) and she has to keep rescuing him from his own devices. And then a REAL bad guy shows up, and she has to team up with him, and he gets to see first-hand what she does all day and that it's not just a skin-tight costume and quipped one-liners. And he's all, "You know, I don't think that I could take being together with a heroine". And she's all, "That's good, because I'm still not willing to take you back." And he's all, "So... need a sidekick?"

And they end up friends, fighting crime together, and he gives his opinion on what she should wear when out on dates and if a guy is worth it or not and if a certain villain will be easier to defeat with a stun ray or an ice blaster and just...

Anyway, I went off topic! [/my thoughts on how movies might be more interesting]
