The Leaky Cauldron publicly separates from the Lexicon.

[W]e do not think a win for J.K. Rowling means tighter controls on fan creativity at all, and are concerned for the opposite, as well as the attempt to misportray the issues of the case as stated in sworn affadavits. So, after a few days of careful and many-sided discussion, we, as a full staff, decided that people who have such a fundamental disconnect in beliefs cannot and should not be partners in name or spirit, and two days ago informed the Lexicon that we are severing our association....

And while Leaky has always owned the hp-lexicon.org domain and paid for the site’s hosting, we’ve promised to transfer the domain to Steve as soon as litigation is complete (a stipulation that would not have been made had ownership not been mentioned in court documents). We will continue to pay for hosting and provide free support until that day.
Note: Compare this statement to the hosting discussion back in December. There's a pretty big discrepancy there, is all I'm saying.

ETA: [info]lidane brings us a small sampling of comment wank. Also, did you know that this is a Fifth Amendment issue?

ETA 2, via [info]cbm and [info]insanitys_place: The defense has requested JKR as a witness.

ETA 3: SVA leaves a comment at the Lexicon site; the Times Online (UK) weighs in with "J. K. Rowling determined to block RDR Books' Harry Potter 'rip-off' "; a discussion of UK law from another site that has admitted to not reading the manuscript; someone is "baffled at how people are so willing to accept the notion that authors own the ideas they publish"; and I really don't even know what's going on here.

Not only have they publicly separated from the Lexicon, but SVA's association with PotterCast is over as well:

There have been many asking, since November, whether Steve would return to PotterCast: That answer is now no.

This is pretty much a clean break from the Lexicon and from Steve-- they're giving SVA the site when the suit ends, and he's now persona non grata for their podcast. And this is just what they're saying publicly. There's no telling how their personal relationships with SVA are at this point, given everything that's happened these last few months.

Not entirely unexpected, but still the correct decision on Leaky's part, IMO.

Melissa's rather blunt responses towards the Lexicon's connection to Leaky, and Steve's absence from Pottercast made it quiet clear that this was coming.

It's clear that Steve's the fandom outcast. We hate him, Jo hates him, WB hates him, Leaky hates him... Ouch. It's gotta be clear that this is not only not what the fans want, but also just plain unlogical.

Yeah, I gotta imagine Steve's recent statements were just finally too much for them to ignore. He basically made it clear that he was totally indifferent to the actual health and well-being of fandom, but was perfectly prepared to totally misrepresent the reality of fandom's interests if he thought it might help him make some money. How could they stay associated with someone who had made it so clear his only remaining interest was self-interest? They couldn't.

Oooh, that must sting dreadfully. On the one hand, I'm hoping that now Steve realizes that the major players in fandom don't want him around he'll realize he's made a bit of a mess and crawl back for forgiveness.

But on the other hand I want him and RDR to go ever forward in their stupidity and get The Legal Smackdown To End All Smackdowns, because quite frankly you don't get this kind of entertainment for free.

I think a win for Joe would be a bad move on fandom as a whole…...if she doesn’t like the contents of your site she can have it closed. If your fic is not to her taste she can have it removed. Saddly this has been approved but all you sheep that are lead by this site so blindly because “It’s JOE and I would support her no matter what.” mentality. People wake up, we have something that is called the fifth amendment and I like Steve have opt to use it.

1. She can already shut your site down, if it uses copyrighted material, if she doesn't like it: look at the travails of fans of Star Trek and the X-Files, in the past.

I keep getting this visual of SVA pulling that old Warner Bros' oops of having JKR out at the end of the diving board while he saws the board away from its stand -- only to have the stand fall and the diving board be just fine thanks. It's reached roughly that level of slapstick.
