How Dare You Compare a Children's Books To My Mature and Sexier Teen Vampire Romance Books !!!!!
Picked up from wank_report, a small wank but it's probably a good sign of the wank to come from the Twilight fandom.

Wank that is crossing the fandoms as The Leaky Cauldron post an article about the upcoming Twilight movie that is starring Robert Pattinson who played Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies. The writer of the article decided to bring up the comparison between the Twilight and Harry Potter series as it has been brought up in the media during the promotion for the Twilight movie. Though there is little to compare between the two besides both being popular fantasy book series with high page counts not aimed at adults, as Twilight is a vampire romance story aimed at teens.

Most of the comments go back and forth over which is the better book and which is complete trash. One of the Twilight fans, Kerrie, seems to have taken on the role of defender of her 'much more mature book series, hehe'. This of course only causes the warring between the fans to grow even more. She enters in on page 7 and has refused to stop posting since with the thread now 22+ pages and that's with deleted comments. Here are some gems from her posts as she explains how Twilight is sooo much better than Harry Potter:



OMG Twlight is sooo good. “New Moon” is quite boring but “Eclipse is so excellent!” Its such a great story. And Robert is absolutley PERFECT as the sexy vampire Edward Cullen! He really becomes the character i think. The tortured vampire who tries to be good and not kill people and he falls in love with his singer (the person who he wants to kill the most because her blood smells the sweetest). He just does it so well! I think the Twlight series would appeal to most Harry Potter fans who are getting older and looking for a fantasy story thats more mature and a bit sexier. The characters in Twlight are so much more interesting then in Harry Potter, (for example the history of each of the Cullen’s and the way they interact as an adopted family is very sweet and interesting), the relationship between Edward and Bella is extremely intense and addictive hehe. And lets face it, sexy vampires are just way cooler then wizards, no matter which way you look at it hehe. I would just like to commend Rob on his excellent acting! You are going to be the most popular young actor for teen girls now! hehe. And i would also like to commend Stephanie Meyer for writing the first young adult fantasy book thats intense and sexy hehe. The vampires are so unique in, the special powers they have (e.g. Alice seeing the future, Edward reading minds), the fact that they glow in the sun, the fact that a few vampires are “vegetarian” and don’t eat people for moral reasons, its all very original and creative.

I definitly think people will be talking about Twilight in 5 years, even in 10 years. I don’t think you understand how obsessed people are hehe. its much more addictive then HP because its more intense and mature and sexier and most girls who read the book just swoon over Edward hehe.

Even if people do not personally like Twlight (and thats fine, i don’t mind, honestly), they cannot deny that its more mature and sexier then HP. Its a fantasy story for older Harry Potter fans who are looking for something a bit deeper.

At the end of the day my whole point is that i would just recommend the Twlight books to any HP fan who has gotten a little bored with HP because they are older and wants read a fantasy story thats written for an older audience, with actual romance instead of teenage romance, scenes that will have you on the edge of you seat perhaps even more then HP, and cool vampires that kill people their bare hands instead of wizards with wands.

Nope i don’t think Meyers style of writing is more developed. Meyer is a more ammature, less experienced writter then JK Rowling. JK Rowling is a more proffesional writter, but she is a childrens writer at the end of the day. I think the CONTENT of Meyer’s books is more developed and more grown-up and described more for young adults while the content descriptions in HP are for children. Again, if you look in any book shop HP is in the childrens section and Twlight is in the Young Adult section. I love twilight because its themes and descriptions are on a whole different older level to Harry Potter. And nope, i am not just a sucker for romance (although i do love it hehe).



And that's only snippets from the first ten comment pages as she seems to suffer from 'broken record syndrome' and refuses to believe her opinion could be wrong, being the 'mature working 22 year old' she is.

There's also additional wank from angry TLC readers that such a 'long article' was posted on TLC whose only connection to HP is that the movies share an actor sprinkled through out the comments pages.

OMFG that article on Fandom_wank was too funny. Utterly hilarious. Pathetic article really. it wasn’t even written well. Oh well, clearly i’m out numbered. I don’t care one little bit. You guys ganged up on me and acted like its a crime to think that something is better then Potter. Its not a crime to like both. Did anyone notice that i tried to change the subject and people still kept insulting me. Very annoying. I have completely lost all respect for HP fans, who clearly refuse to accept that another book series could appeal to someone more. Just to clear the air, I never ever tried to force anyone to like Twilight, I only reccomended it and listed the reaons why i like it. If thats a crime, then take me away to jail hehe.

ETA2: kumquat_of_doom has brought to my attention that there are now sock puppet accusations about Kerrie and the commenters, deidre/daniel/elaine, that have been supporting her and saying the other posters are being too mean to her. Which can be read near the bottom of page 23.

ETA3: We have flounce on page 24, thank you ari_o for that update. But Kerrie is still going on the next page, cause she's just so sick and tired of all those immature HP fans and wants it to just end.
