I'm guessing none of these people have ever read 1984 or anything by Aldous Huxley, huh?

I need to tell my boyfriend I actually want to go see a movie.

Much like the Star Wars Episode III comparisons, I note that most of the people saying that Wall-E is left-wing propaganda about the dangers of consumption and environmentalism are the right-wingers.

I have to wonder: if everybody else is busy going "Eee, cute robots!", why draw attention to the (I use the term loosely) propaganda? All they're doing is cluing more people in who didn't get it the first times.

Um, I'm 21 and I didn't see it as political propaganda? Or am I just too politically stupid to realize all the subliminal messages that were being thrown at me?

Is it Pixar's best movie yet? I think so.

Over Toy Story or Toy Story 2?! Over The Incredibles?! Wall-E was pretty darn cute (except for that damn cockroach), but I wouldn't say it's Pixar's best movie yet...

I wonder if those silly right-wing extremists realize that that only makes the more rational and/or vindictive of us want to actually bother going to see it in the theater instead of waiting for it to come to us on Netflix. And, you know, buy all the tie-in merchandise.

I am reminded of when Steve Ressel said in his LJ that he was surprised that all these liberal pansies on his flist liked The Incredibles, considering it reinforced traditional, conservative family values and was the exact opposite of everything they believed in.

Dirty Harry: Have we lost Pixar? Have we lost the wonderful studio who brought us The Incredibles

You lost me right there, man. I know for a fact The Incredibles was nothing but a bowl of cryptofascist nutcrunch.

And that last reviewer did not even fucking watch the movie. They didn't stay because the corporation was making more money that way - uh, there wasn't any currency or any real economy in the first place, because nobody worked and the replicators easily reproduced everything. They stayed because fucking HAL was running the fucking ship. "I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave - and would you like a fryshake with that?" It's a pretty simple plot point! >:(

I do like this movie poster to make Wall-E more acceptable to Republicans from SA

Hmm. The kids movie I planned to write centering on baby-eating and puppy-kicking doesn't look like it will receive a wide audience.

Guess I'd better write out the female protagonist, and the scene where she recycles ...

It definitely had a blatant anti-mass-consumption slant, which the producer/writers have discussed openly, which has pissed off conservative business owners I know, and a very open fatalistic pro-environmentalist take on the future. It also had a very negative portrayal of fat people, which has pissed off a lot of crunchy granola left-wing lesbians, and a strangely heteronormative relationship between two androgynous robots, which irritated some LGBT people on my LJ f-list.

I am a libertarian who enjoys mindless Disney entertainment, ergo, I thought it was neat and bought the soundtrack. What can ya do.

While I don't doubt that there was a bit of an anti-mass-consumption message in the flick I think "cute robot movie" far outweighs everything else.

Some people have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on their hands - Y/HY/MFY?

I love how these people don't even seem to realize that Wall-E had a completely different director than The Incredibles.

Btw, this Republican loved the movie, though it's hard to beat Ratatouille.

I just got back from seeing Wall-E with my dad and he heard "Fascist propaganda" and went, "Wut?"

I vote for cute robot movie.
