Avatar Ship Wank
As some of you know, Avatar: the Last Airbender had its series finale yesterday. Many mind-blowing things occured in the finale, but since this is fandom, all the wankers care about is one thing: whose ships got sunk?

As anyone with half a brain could have guessed, Avatar's endgame ships turned out to be Maiko and Kataang. This has naturally precipitated the implosion of the last vestiges of Zutarian fandom.

Zutarian BNF AVidZktjo on DevArt, AKA Katie Jo, famous for her "Zutarian Evidence for the Intellectual Dummy" vids, posts a bitter episode reaction entitled Finale = Epic Fail in her DevArt journal. Friends and trolls alike flock to offer support and bashing respectively and much wanky fun is had by all.

Not really but I hope he learns that he can't have attachments to the world, give up Katara or even go for Toph. I hated the finale, everything was rushed and Katara kissed him! Ewww! Even that was rushed. We didn't even get to see Ursa!

You watched the whole series and loved it but are now cursing Mike and Bryan because your beloved ship didn't happen? Mike and Bryan invented all the characters, Zuko and Katara wouldn't even EXIST if it weren't for them.

That finale was epic. If you want to hate the whole series because there wasn't Zutara, you shouldn't have watched from the beginning. There never was any Zutara for the first 57 episodes, so the lack of Zutara in the last 4 shouldn't have been a shocker.

Respect Bryke, please. But I already see that that's beyong your level of maturity.

Actually i do love the serie and kinda liked the ending...I don't really care about Kataang or Zutara, It's a mofo cartoon after all...I liked the shipping war, and i enjoyed debates and even flaming. I LOVED the action and the magic world, the animation, and the story.
But what i really disliked was aang not killing ozai...but it's ok. As said before, it's a cartoon, and it's over...

By the way, i do respect the creators of avatar, and i respect the writers directors and artists, and i'm downloading the torrents to rewatch it again, and i'll still play with my little brother that we are benders...

Don't take everything you read and see in the internet to be real, and also, if i wanted to hate two people i don't even know, it's my problem...

Sure, Kataang is canon, butj that doesn't mean both that and Zutara can't happen. Sokka/Yue/Sukka anyone? If it doesn't, you should be proud!

And then there's the standard Mai hate, Aang-bashing pretty much everywhere you can look, creator bashing, so on and so forth.

There was also a DA journal entry where in the comments, the author stated her refusal to watch the rest of the finale because it wouldn't have Zutara, commenters bashed everything that didn't adhere to their delusions (including the creators of their favorite characters), trolls from /co/ came in, and so on. I suspect it was deleted due to the /co/ invasion.

You know I have grown used to the Mai bashing, as ill conceived as it is because that is standard, let's hate on the pretty boy's girlfriend, but the Aang-bashing just urghhh hurts even worse. I mean I felt through like the last three episodes that all I wanted to do was to hug him and tell him everything will be ok. I mean he is one of the few things that brings out my maternal instinct.

	Not to mention that with her father being a governor and her uncle being the warden of the country's highest-security prison (and probably a lot of other high-placed relatives as well), she's certainly got more than her share of power and privilege... and yet she seems so utterly disenchanted with it. I was thinking about Ginny/Mai comparisons too, despite them having like exact opposite personalities. I think there's something about shippers identifying with the "most prominent female" that makes them project the worst possible motivations onto all other females, especially when we've seen the others less in the series. Like secondary characters can't possibly have noble or complex motivations, because they haven't had enough screen/page time to have earned them somehow. So it comes out as a kind of, "Who the heck is she?! What gives her any right?!? DAMMIT, THE OTHER ONE IS ME!"

I'd still like some political understanding from Mai, but it's a show for seven-year-olds, and I'm to busy having vaguely orgasmic reactions to the animation and storyboarding of the fight scenes...

(Although I still think Ty Lee wants Azula like a cold drink of water in the desert. And I know, I'm a bit sick and wrong for seeing Ty Lee as a masochist/anguisette, but I'm sure she could rock a Kushiel tattoo...)
