Comments made during class? B'ohh, how come none of the guys in any of my Women's Studies classes talked about what gay sex between men was and wasn't like? House icon disapproves.

Why would I want real anything in fanfic? I thought the whole idea of fandom was escapism, either by making characters gay or writing stories that never actually happened in canon. Why the hell would I read fanfic for the "real" stuff? If I wanted "real" male sex, I'll just watch some gay porn and pretend that the scruffy guy is House and the less scruffy guy is Wilson.

Didn't someone bag on a 12-year-old child and then try to pass it off as a psych experiment? The "experiment" thing sounds like someone trying to back off from having created a shitstorm of controversy.

Anyway, tackling the gay sex thing? I actually dislike the attempt to shoehorn the males in slashfic into a so-called "seme/uke" paradigm. Sex roles among gay/bi men are a lot more fluid than that.

You know, I actually did have the opportunity to do a social experminent on the internet last semester? But the fact that the prof said 'and if you do this, in no way, shape or form are you allowed to orchestrate the situation or comment on the boards yourself, only collect what's already been published' pretty much cleared up for me that no, it's never ever actually a social experiment.

i'm pretty sure that a social experiment like that isn't valid without a control group, or at the very least the permission of the test subjects.

also, uh, i'm confused as to why a women's studies class would be discussing slash fanfic and the seme/uke dynamic. but i've never taken one, so what do i know
