Oh the thick plottins!
Previously, on Moonlight: Busgate 2008:

In the last episode, the Moonlight kerfluffle, (reported here in the original wank report) we had $11k missing and people demanding answers for it. For a dramatic week, people wondered if there'd ever be an end to it all.

Finally, we get some relief as Leeser's payment goes through and kayspleen reports that she is satisfied.

But it's not over yet... dun dun dun!

Tonight's episode thickens the plot as the Moonlight Line Bboard falls into a sinkhole of drama.

First, we have mysterious mods logging in during the wee hours of the night, banning hundreds of IP addresses.

Then, in a dasterdly twist of events, we present a subplot to the Busgate drama: Deletathon! Where dozens of threads and fanfic offices suddenly go missing.

MLL members go into a frenzy of posts when they realize it. But moderator (and child of Leeser, to boot) Kate posts to make sure everyone realizes what a non-issue all of it is, just like $11k is a measly two months rent in CA.

Quote: Concerning the users that have been banned/posts deleted/etc... We have decided, as a whole that trolling is NOT allowed on this board and we'd finally take action against it. This whole mess started from people bitching that an ad wasn't up fast enough, so when it was finished, as planned already... All there was was bitching about how Leeser had to be a scammer/etc. I, for one am tired of seeing people try to stir the pot on one non-issue, and when that issue is struck down, they just move on.

Then the burnings bannings begin, the first to go being anyone logical and persistent. Yet, mysteriously, anyone supporting Leeser can get away with, well, everything.

Cut scene to the fanfic sector again and we have edit buttons disappearing and the fanfic writers no longer able edit or delete their work!

In a dramatic cliff hanger ending, rijane makes an ominous threat if Leeser doesn't cough up the fake vials of blood she promised to the winners of the Golden Fang Awards.

Quote: Unless I see a tracking number for the vials or other replacement items that are in the mail to my house, I'm making a phone call, a phone call that will make Leeser VERY unhappy.

Got it, Leeser?

Yeah. That's a threat and you know I can carry it out.

Leeser has promised payment, but rijane is demanding a tracking number, or else!

Will rijane and the other winners ever see their vials? Will the board implode under the weight of all the drama? Will Leeser ever cough up any explanations for anything? Will Kate post again on any other non-issues? Will the fanfic writers gain access to their fanfic again?

Stay tuned, true believers, for the next episode of Moonlight Line: Busgate 2008, Electric Boogalo!

Disclaimer: There is no way one can possibly write this up and get ALL the links available on this. I cherry picked what I thought were the best tidbits of this on going drama that's getting huge enough to rival Godzilla.

ETA the first!: Even the Germans are smelling something foul.

And let's not forget the propeller story, for it has tasty details as well. Thank you [info]killer_gopher.

ETA's mother: Quick, everyone, look busy, we've been spotted!

Many thanks to Lila from the MLL board for providing details on the ghosts of Eris. So far, we have MyImaginaryFriend, gandhhi, BooBerry, Chaos, Inara, Addiecurly, and CaptainJackMorgan.

ETA's mother's cousin: Rijane's revenge has been enacted.

ETA's mother's cousin's best friend: Moonpies? No seriously, MOONPIES?

ETA's mother's cousin's best friend's ex-girlfriend: The Fleur de Lis reference explained.

ETA's mother's cousin's best friend's ex-girlfriend's dog: Thanks to [info]ari_o, we now have the Moonlight Bingo Card.

ETA's mother's cousin's best friend's ex-girlfriend's dog's chew toy: Flashback scene! Leeser apparently tried to run her own church and PRE-SCHOOL.

ETA So what does that make us?: Ads are up!

ETAs galore. [info]cleolinda, how in the world did you keep up with this?

Another flashback to a time when Leeser was more godlike.

The proposed ad itself.

Another mod flees from the board.

Some of the snowflakes have realized the error of their ways.

Rijane is in a car accident, and we blame Leeser somehow.

More questions that likely will never get answers.

Today's ETA is... elizabuff goes right back to wanking. Anyone surprised?

And another large ETA: Leeser's school was apparently just another scam.

Oh this is classic, beyond all words, thanks to Rijane:

Tell tales of my viciousness across the fandom, 'cause this might be my goodbye post. Wish it could be snarkier.

So, here's the thing:

Yet another "anonymous donor" volunteered at East Coast Con to donate money to have Leeser personally deliver 1,500 Moon Pies (http://www.moonpies.com for those too lazy to Google that shit) each to Joel Silver, the head of WB Home Entertainment and Nina Tassler (for reasons beyond my understanding). Leeser wanted media to come and document this delightfully annoying fan publicity stunt. Which was where I came in. I wrote her a press release about all the birthday events (the donation drive, the bus ads, and, yes, this garlic-esque campaign) and gave her some LA contacts (none of whom were going to show at a publicity stunt).

But there may have been a small wrinkle in her plan this morning. In the form of the captains of the security watch at WB and CBS.

So I'd love to know where 4,500 Moonpies are at this moment in time. 'Cause I suspect that, like Nina's Big Beautiful Bouquet, they are not anywhere near JS and co.

Oh, and Ethan Irwin has been informed of the bullshit on the boards by another well-connected soul and he's spoken to Joel and the higher-ups at Silver Pictures about it. The folks there are staying far away from this debacle and the person behind it.

Still waiting for those vials...

Yeah...Leeser really is the head of the special snowflake society.

If I hired a PR firm, and they thought of that...dear god.

Brings back memories of WKRP In Cincinnati when Les Nessman dropped turkey's out of helicopter - and didn't know they couldn't fly. It was classic. Much like this wank.

I bet NOBODY thought of Moonpies on their bingo cards, now did they?

It was NOT Les Nessman, it was Mr. Carlson who had the idea and spoke that infamous line. Poor Les was stuck there reporting it on the ground.

Best Thanksgiving themed episode of a show ever. With Buffy's "It's a ritual sacrifice. With pie." up there in the running as well

Although for me that episode isn't quite as funny as the WKRP Carp one.

Saw that. Amazing. I'm tallying the upper limit of what Leeser could have gotten away with. So, 4,500 moon pies. Standard price seems to be around $6.50 per. Assuming a 10% discount for bulk, that's $26,325. Now, from the previous wank report, there was mention of a con where $8,000 was unaccounted for, and then we have $11,000 here.

$45,325

"Two months rent?" Yeah, if you're Hugh Hefner.

Has their been a restraining order involved? I'm guessing if not, it will be somewhere in the near future.

I mean if you think about who would ever think of(possibly)embezzling money for Moonpies! College? Bills? Saving your house? Hell no, I need to buy me some Moonpies! She could have bought thousands of lollipops instead, with he moonlighting logo and given them away at Halloween.

Sucker - vampire - get it? Yes, this is why I do not own a PR firm, but it still makes more sense than her idea. ;)

$6.50 each for MoonPies? Where are you pricing them!? You can get 50 single-decker MoonPies for <$20. That's $1800. Still not chump change, of course.

Even cheaper if you get 'em in bulk at like Costco or Sam's Club.

Of course, clearly this show deserves the ginormous ones that takes two weeks to finish.

Yeah, that $6.50 must be for a box of 12, at least.

Ah, found them on my grocery store's online shopping service. $2.49/doz mini moon pies, $3.29/doz single decker moon pies and $3.99/8 double decker pies.

Assuming they were smart (ha!) enough to go with the cheapest option, that's $933.75 standard retail, minus taxes.

Still not chump change as you said, but significantly better.

Somebody enlighten a poor uninformed Brit. From the (bad) pictures available online, are Moon pies basically Wagon Wheels by another name?

Totally missing the point and OT, I know. I'm just hungry.

My five-year-old went to this campfire thing over the weekend, and they'd said they were making s'mores. When we picked her up I asked her if she'd liked them and she said no.

Further questioning revealed that they'd just smushed the toasted marshmallows between the graham crackers without chocolate.

I restrained myself from shrieking "Blaspheme!", but only just.

Bwaha, that reminds me of when I worked in the admissions office at my college. Sometimes people would send tasty treats with their applications, hoping to reach the admissions officers' hearts via their stomachs. But of course, my fellow lowly file clerks and I would devour them, and the officers never knew they were there.

So I raise a moonpie to the security folks at WB! I hope you enjoy the deliciosity.

OK, here is what may be a stupid question. Is there any special significance to Moonpies within the Moonlight universe? Or was it just the name? Moonpies = Moonlight? And why 1500 to three different people?
