Acknowledge my C+P skillz!
Thank you to the good people at wank_report for this small but delightful Supernatural wank.

[info]agt_spooky posts the ratings for last week’s Supernatural episode to the supernatural_tv community, telling everyone to “feel free to repost this information, but if you do, please credit me, as it takes me awhile [sic] each week to compile all of this. Thank you!”.

[info]saerie mocks the idea that the reposting of ratings should be credited. [info]agt_spooky immediately overreacts and flounces, and the lone voice of reason is drowned out by a sea of people telling her not to be mean.

I don't think you get something. She's not "sharing", she's making. She doesn't copy paste these numbers from somewhere.

It turns out that copying-and-pasting is exactly what she does, as the numbers are directly taken from this forum. The flounce continues in agt_spooky’s lj, along with a promise to never ‘compile’ ratings for anyone ever again. One respondent politely asks what exactly it is that she compiles. The answer: “I go to Marc's site to get the preliminary numbers for every show then check back to get the finals as well. Does that not count as compiling?”

It doesn’t, but that’s okay because [info]saerie has clearly learned the error of her ways. With the dissenters browbeaten into submission and everyone believing that copying and compiling are the same thing, the internet was once again a really nice place to be.

ETA: [info]agt_spooky claims she had to turn off anon commenting in her lj due to people dropping by and calling her a bitch. Did anyone see any of these anon flames? [Answer: yes.]

ETA 2 (a relevant one this time!) [info]agt_spooky's problems with the concept of ownership extend to selling pirated DVD's for a profit.

Isn't this the same person that was selling pirated copies of the Paley festival panel on eBay?

Hah, yes, that was agt_spooky. What did she charge, $20 a copy? Good little pirates don't charge omg.

Yes - I had completely forgotten it until [info]moveablehistory mentioned it. It was this giant kerfluffle last September, and I recall [info]agt_spooky locking everything down after people pointed out that, you know, trying to profit by selling pirated copies of a DVD isn't a very good idea. She was very offended by this suggestion, and her response was pretty much the same as it is here: I'm just doing something nice for you guys, but since you don't appreciate it, I'm NEVER POSTING IT AGAIN.

But googling her name + paley festival did lead me to this though, which was after the whole fiasco. I was right, $20! My memory doesn't completely suck! :)

Oh wow. That's amazing. Thanks for the info.

Was this ever posted on any of the JF communities? I couldn't find it on FW or clairvoyant_wank.

Paley 2006 Festival DVD

Hi, My name is James. Last night I lost my girlfriend's copy of the 2006 Paley Festival Promotional DVD of the panel of people from Supernatural answering questions from the audience. This was the disc that only came with copies of the box set of season one of Supernatural sold at Best Buy stores upon it's release. I set the DVD on the trunk of my car (at 1:00 in the morning) while I went to grab her cat who had gotten out of the gated area at her condo. I got the cat, but then forgot about the DVD I had set on the trunk and drove off. This morning I realized what had happened. I posted a message on the live journal community dean_sam at the recommendation of another Supernatural fan on live journal named Tracy, and someone replied today that at one point you had copies you were making available to people of this DVD. Do you still have copies or can you perhaps make another? Thank you so much.

Re: Paley 2006 Festival DVD

Hi James!

Hey, no problem. I can definitely help you out. I can get you out a copy in a day or so. I normally charge $20.00 for the copies, but if you've got something to trade, I'm all ears!

Why don't you email me at: agt_spooky@livejournal.com and we can talk if you're still interested.
