Sone people giggle. Then xtalcy comes in with: "Am I the only one who thinks transphobic humor is not so funny?" Several others agree that maybe this isn't all lulz and fun. Others do not, notably gonsai, who starts with "Except neither character is transgendered in any sense." Cue bickering, including defenses of "I'm dating one", "You're oversensitive," and "I am one."

Not only did I not know there's now a term for it - transphobic - did I miss something? Neither of the characters is a transgendered person, right? So it wouldn't be transphobia anyway, even if the other two characters were expressing hate or violence. Which they aren't - just surprise. Not that the tendency of a small slice of the populace to project to the point of insanity actually surprises me (and there are those who think I do it when I talk about sexism, so ...).

	I'm not gonna agree or disagree here, for fear of bringing the wank inside the house, but she seems to be saying that anything that deals with gender confusion also deals with transgender - ism? It does have to do with gender issues, at least. And crossdressing does have to deal with transgendered issues. If either character is a transgendered, I'd say Bridget, but I haven't played the game so I only know from hearsay. Today: a woman dressed as a soldier is A-OK, but I recall there being a lot of reaction when Samus was discovered to be a woman and not a man in fandom (though I wasn't around), because fandom already had determined her gender to be male. But a man dressed as a nun,the public has issues with that. Men are not allowed to be feminine or dress in dresses, thus the comic illustrates the fear of discovering "she's a man, baby," something that would upset people who are not used to transgendered individuals.

However, the comic itself is not transphobic IMO.

AND OMG TOO MUCH SERIOUS AND TEAL DEER IN THIS COMMENT. I WILL STOP BEFORE I GO ONTO A FIVE PARAGRAPH ESSAY. D:

If so, you're arguing from a position of privilege over me and thus you really don't get to tell me what's transphobic and what isn't. You want a man telling a woman what's sexist and what isn't? You want a white person telling an Asian person what's racist and what isn't?

Is the man in question a sensible person? Is the woman in question an idiot (like those charming Supernatural fangirls who scream "I'm so fucking sick of feminism!", or the lady who claimed that "girls can't be jockeys because they just can't get the horses' respect")?

Then fuck yeah!

Feminism basically says that discrimination based on gender is wrong. There is plenty of men smart enough to get that, and plenty of women stupid enough not to. One's gender doesn't necessarily make them a better or worse feminist, both men and women can be sensible or idiots or anything in between.

You know, even when I put my radical glasses on, I can't see anything offensive about the comic. The poster it was made into, yesh, if you choose to read it as disgust with the mere thought that someone might be genderweird, which you know you could read it as, but it could also be poking mild and ironic fun at people who overreact to that sort of thing, since dude, what do you care if a video game character isn't presenting "appropriately"?

But the coming itself merely documents the "Holy shit!" moment everyone has when they discover something about someone they hadn't know before, whether it's that their biological sex differs from their gender presentation or that they're a cancer survivor.
