Transfanboys wanking? Dull Surprise.
So, we've all seen the heights of frothiness that Transformers fans can reach, but what about the fanboys' fanboys?

First, Matt Moylan of the webcomic Lil' Formers posts a comic comparing the various incarnations of Optimus Prime.

Then, David Willis of Shortpacked! satirizes Matt's comic in one of his own.

Cue fanboy outrage, in both blogs of the involved artists. Multiple times.

And in the tfwiki.net talk page for Matt Moylan.

And in the wikipedia.net talk page for David Willis.

The heights of impotent nerd rage their fans reach on behalf of people with careers most of the fans would punch an elderly relative for is pretty hilarious.

Damn, I wanted this one. :p Ah, well. Lil' Formers really isn't that funny, especially when it's basically mocking non-G1 for being non-G1. I don't know much about Moylan, but he seems to not have as much self-insight as Willis anyway.

Good or bad, I invite everyone to head over to Lil Formers TF Wiki entry and give their thoughts on things like:

- should wiki articles be neutral or allow opinions?
- am I especially biased toward Animated and the Movie compared to other subjects?
- am I not allowed to make fun of certain ‘taboo’ TF subjects like these?

Oh, and for reference for people that don't know Shortpacked! - the guy saying "All fanboys besides me are dumb" in the last panel of the strip is Shortpacked's! main character/occasional author mouthpiece. So Willis is poking a bit of fun at himself, too.

I've always hated loved that about rabid fans. Why does there being a new version with new potential "ruin" the original? It's still there and exactly the same...forever.
I expect we'll see a similar flood when Watchmen releases.

I don't really care about any of this except that the continual depths to which certain corners of TF fandom will sink in their attempt to take themselves seriously remains as hilarious to me as ever.

And also because it gives me an excuse to like to my favorite TF-related clip ever, which never stops being funny. At least to me.

I actually found Lil Formers' Optimus and Megatron strips to be funny, mostly for the ideas of Megatron always being abandoned by his lackeys (Starscream I luv you) and Optimus being slightly ridiculous in a way I can't describe but love.

REAL fans arent like Walky and his ilk who make fun of every1 else because they think they are so “cool” when they all look like a bunch of unkempt homeless virgins who are more likely to touch their moms private areas than there own. They all probably live at home with mommy and there all like 35-40 year old geeks who havent signed off the internet since 1996.

Mmm... I can take or leave Shortpacked in general, but the way the creator seems to have a real good sense of humor about himself and people's reactions to his comic, I think I internet-love him a little.

Yes, but it's also ridiculing someone else's web comic, which I found somewhat mean-spirited. It's like if I were to walk into a library, pick up a copy of War and Peace and smack someone upside the head with it for no reason other than that I don't like how he looks. :(
...That's not the same thing at all. That's a lousy metaphor.

It's days old now, sure, and it's not actually wanky or anything -- Matt Moylan seems to be taking it pretty well -- but Li'l Formers posted a response strip today.

Even the comments are pretty tame. Most of the discussion going on so far is about whether or not Jeph Loeb deserves to be one of the most popular writers in comics these days.
