Slash fans? That's sick! TPTB says so.
I come bearing fresh Supernatural wank, because I'm sure none of you are tired of it by now.

A little background: The most recent episode, entitled "The Monster at the End of This Book", was pretty much "A Very Meta Supernatural". It involved a hack writer writing novels that were pretty much novelizations of all the episodes (deliberately written to sound like bad fanfic when read aloud). Sam and Dean need to track him down and figure out how he knows everything about them. We're cool so far, right?

Well, in their searches the Winchesters encounter the series' publisher/fangirl, who quizzes them about their lives, and talks about things like how pretty they are when they cry. That would be bad enough, except that the brothers also go online to do some research. You have three guesses as to what they found. If you guessed anything other than "slash", you're wrong. To quote the episode:
Dean: "They know we're brothers, right?"
Sam: "Yes and it doesn't seem to matter."
Dean: "Well, that's just sick."

As one might be able to surmise, this doesn't go over too well in certain sections of fandom.

Some fans say HELL no! They Hate it in a way they've never hated a previous episode before.

A few of the better comments:
Spiderine thinks Kripke'd BETTA RESPECT! They made him, and they can break him just as easily!

I'm beginning to think Kripke has no respect for his own fan base. I don't expect TPTB to condone slash or Wincest, but I don't appreciate it when the creators of one of my favorite shows make fun of the fandom in general. We MADE you, you fuckers! And I think, in the first few minutes of this ep, they just told us in so many words that they have indeed engineered the Castiel storyline -- and are throwing demon!women at Sam -- *specifically* to fuck with the Wincest fans and split up the dynamic of the two brothers. Look, I'm not saying "Wincest or nothing!" I may be a crazed fangirl, but I'm not stupid enough ever to expect homosexual incest to be text in any mainstream television show. But even in a gen sense, the close partnership of Sam and Dean is what this show is all about. That's what Supernatural is for, and I think Kripke & Co. are deliberately flipping us the bird.

SCREW YOU GUYS! In honor of Wincest getting made fun of, Loony-Moony is going to go read some Wincest:

Except that when you bit back, you did it a little more than you intended, I suspect. I'm not talking about the ill-favoured representation of fangirls (oh yeah, the "publisher"? with the crazy hair and the tattoo who loves to read about the boys crying? *eyeroll*). I'm not even talking about the abtastic book covers, the full frontal and the Jossing of Wincest.

I'm actually talking about putting out in the open terms like "fandom" and "slashers" and pretty much showing how things go down online. Because you do realize those things have actually never been talked about in a primetime TV network show before, right? You do know you just exposed not only your online fanbase, but online fanbases in general to the public eye and consequent ridicule, right?

Right?

Just think about it for a second.

...

For the record, right now? I don't feel like this is being overly dramatic. This really actually hurts, you guys. So you know what? In order to commemorate the cratpasticness, I think I'm gonna read some Wincest.

Deangirl1 is depressed that the powers that be are making fun of her tattoo devotion to the show. This is her passion you're making fun of, people. WHY DO YOU DO THIS?

I can't believe that people are too stunned to realize that the writers and the actors are making fun of them. They think that we are just obsessed losers.

I hope it's obvious that I now want to change my user name everywhere. I want to get rid of my tat. I really have no desire to ever meet anyone associated with the show now. Well certainly not the ones who took so much glee in laughing AT us -- not with us.... Yes. I feel like a freak. it's broken my heart. I hope they're happy. I want to shred every peice of SPN crap I own and send it to them in a box. And if my typing is bad here it's because I'm fucking crying and that pisses me off even more. I will miss writing. But maybe I will find a show that appreciates the passion people have for it and don't ridicule it.

ETA: LOCKED. And once again, we are the Mean Girls. Also, someone doesn't know how to use Google to find us. (Note: The original post was not locked when I found it, so comments in this one indicating that it was are wrong.)

Partaymon5 thinks that this will cause fights between slashers and non-slashers. (Are there any non-slashers in this fandom? I thought anyone who liked girls was exiled to the Island of Cooter or something.)

Understand I have nothing against Wincest - I read it, but I don't think they are 'thanking' the fans for their support by having the guys say on the show that it is 'sick'. Kinda says the exact opposite to me actually, and this is more likely to escalate the fight between slashers and non-slashers.

Also, some people are afraid of having to explain "slash", it drove some people to drink, and others think Kirk and Spock would never have done this. Locked, and I forgot to grab screencaps. Anyone have?
