The Russet Doom Saga, Part III
Lady Sybilla put out another press release. She also showed up at the Twilight Lexicon again, since that went so well the last time. (When the formatting gets hard to read, check it here.)

After her Wikipedia article was deleted (you can go to the Russet-Noon webpage for more information), Lady Sybilla edited the shit out of the Russet Noon Fanhistory page all by her lonesome (despire Laura Hale asking around on Bebo whether anyone else had anything to contribute).

And in case your blog entry about the whole affair shows up there, I'm sorry. Lady Sybilla farmed the Russet Doom Supplementary Links Collection and changed my format a little to make the attention seem less wholly negative.

Oh also I put together an entry in my journal with links to screencaps and transcriptions and things, for quick and easy reference.

I'm curious, what is the dividing line between "an archetype anyone might use" and "my lawyer will be contacting you"?

I know which side of the line "oh hi, I borrowed your characters' names, backstories, experiences and, oh yeah, underwear" falls on. But I'm a little hazy beyond that.

Okay, I'll admit, I've channeled a character. I've had a part and thought, really hard, 'what would they do? What would these, these fictional characters someone else created and I'm playing with, what would they do?' But, uh, I'm pretty sure someone created them.

I do agree about archetypes, but that could of come from someone sane's mouth, rather than hers.

Many of my attackers do download mp3s illegally, decorate their websites with pictures they have no direct authorization from the copyright owner to use, and upload videos to YouTube for which they don’t own the copyright, etc...

And yet they still throw stones as if they’re free of sin...

The Twilight Lexicon webmasters, as well as many others who think of themselves as SM’s loyal vigilantes, attack me regardless of what I do...

So, once again, I reiterate that I don’t think you’re trying to defend me, but I do appreciate that you point out the obvious irony of this movement to crucify Lady Sybilla.

I know that my post will either get deleted altogether, or the site owners will once again attack me and accuse me of whatever crimes they decide I’ve committed.

But the bottom line is that I have tried my best to make ammends. If I wanted to, I could still be selling pre-order copies of Russet Noon via less well-known distributors. Whether anyone believes me or not, I’m telling the truth. I have altogether given up on trying to make money off of Russet Noon, but no one pays attention to that.

OH GOD, PLEASE DO. PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION. TRUST. I like how her only true reasoning for being upset seems like it's because she won't be making any money off of this. TRUE FANS KNOW THE REAL REWARD IS THE NUMBER OF REVIEWS YOU GET ON ON FF.NET

It sounds like she took the basic concept from "Death of the Author" and ran off to crazytown with it.

When she didn't start arguing with us at F_W, and took down her Russet Noon site, I was beginning to think she'd seen the light. I thought that maybe she had realized how much damage she was doing to her future reputation by continuing to carry on like a spoiled, clueless brat. I thought that perhaps she'd decided to fade back into the woodwork and let all this blow over, saving as much face as possible.

I WAS WRONG.

She seems intent on keeping this thing alive, having the last word and spreading her special brand of crazy far and wide. She seems to want attention, and even notoriety. So I think we ought to help her in that quest. Googlebombing seems to be a good option; I would like to suggest linking "Glorianna Arias" to the original F_W report.
