The Russet Doom Saga, Part III
Lady Sybilla put out another press release. She also showed up at the Twilight Lexicon again, since that went so well the last time. (When the formatting gets hard to read, check it here.)

(Fanhistory links are all nofollow.)

After her Wikipedia article was deleted (you can go to the Russet-Noon webpage for more information), Lady Sybilla edited the shit out of the Russet Noon Fanhistory page all by her lonesome (despire Laura Hale asking around on Bebo whether anyone else had anything to contribute).

And in case your blog entry about the whole affair shows up there, I'm sorry. Lady Sybilla farmed the Russet Doom Supplementary Links Collection and changed my format a little to make the attention seem less wholly negative.

Oh also I put together an
entry in my journal with links to screencaps and transcriptions and things, for quick and easy reference.

To be honest, I haven’t read any fanfics out there by college-educated people.

Does this woman spend any time in fandom? Or is it just the Twilight fandom? Because I know a substantial percentage of the writers in my fandom are college educated. Then again, Star Wars is a much older fandom. Older, and dare I say it, almost respectable?

Her argument for the Universal Mind still makes my brain hurt. Such things are nice in theory, and great for conversation when everyone is drunk, high, or sleep-deprived, but have ZERO BEARING ON COPYRIGHT LAW. And in all my courses in aesthetics, this concept never came up. And we covered some pretty goofy theories if only for the sake of argument.

...dangit, I can't cover crazy this early in the morning. Screw this, I'm getting a muffin.

I really don't think she's spent any time in fandom, or at least not a book fandom, because if she had, she would have gone about this little project in a completely different way.

I'd love to contribute to a respectable fandom. But I'd just drag it down.

Crazy fandoms are so much more fun, anyway.

What she meant to say was "I've assumed my own educational superiority over the author of every fanfic I've read, without bothering to check."

Hey, does this mean I don't exist like all of you bisexual English majors?

No, you're still here. I'd check and see if your fanfics still exist, though.

Who knows? It might be the latest 'rule' over at the Pit of Voles. College Education? Bah.

What is someone is a bisexual girl gamer who graduated from college with a degree in English? Oh, and her favorite color is purple. And she uses ampersands. (Am I forgetting anything?)

You should have used an ampersand. Just to be safe.

Star Wars is a much older fandom

The Clone Wars stuff has been bringing in younger fans - if I see one more Ahsoka fic...

Hopefully they'll grow up into good older fans? I can't be too hard on the newbies. I got into Star Wars fandom when I was a preteen watching the Special Editions, though I didn't properly discover fandom until a couple of years later (back in my day we had dial up internet and couldn't be online all day if we wanted to use the phone, too...). I can still dig up some pretty bad fics I wrote back in those days, though in general I prefer to leave them buried.

I can't bring myself to watch Clone Wars. The animation looks horrible. And I don't care for much of the era anyway. Plus, I haven't even seen the movie, and as it was said in The Big Bang Theory, "I intend to be disappointed in the order George Lucas intended."

I actually like cartoon Anakin better than Hayden Christensen's Darth Vader the Whiny. The animation does look a little cheesy, but it's not a horrible way to kill a half hour.
