The Russet Doom Saga, Part III
Lady Sybilla put out another press release. She also showed up at the Twilight Lexicon again, since that went so well the last time. (When the formatting gets hard to read, check it here.)

(Fanhistory links are all nofollow.)

After her Wikipedia article was deleted (you can go to the Russet-Noon webpage for more information), Lady Sybilla edited the shit out of the Russet Noon Fanhistory page all by her lonesome (despire Laura Hale asking around on Bebo whether anyone else had anything to contribute).

And in case your blog entry about the whole affair shows up there, I'm sorry. Lady Sybilla farmed the Russet Doom Supplementary Links Collection and changed my format a little to make the attention seem less wholly negative.

Oh also I put together an
entry in my journal with links to screencaps and transcriptions and things, for quick and easy reference.

That line reminded me of when deviantART explained that they allowed traced screenshot "fanart" because fanart in general is typically done by younger/less experienced artists.

Both myself and a good chunk of the fanartists I watch are college age and older, and some of us make a living in an artistic field on top of that.

So yeah, this is hardly a rare misconception about fanwork creators.

A certain guy from a certain comics company was looking for new colorist meat and happened to see a piece of fan art I did. That's how I got my first job and I've been working steadily since. Granted, it's indie stuff, but a paycheck's a paycheck and the indie stuff is a lot of fun. Looking down at fan artists is pretty silly to say the least.

That's cool :D (and especially cool that the work's still going; I'm a freelance 2D animator and things are soooo sloooow right now, jobwise). I generally try to keep my fanwork and pro work separate, but I've found that doing fanart is good practice, at the very least (and has really helped my skills with a Wacom tablet).

Damn, I should figure out how to use my Wacom at some point. I bought it after all.

Sorry, sorry. Random non-information. I just love DA because I get to look at the pretty artwork. There's one Tinkerbell someone drew that is my mom's wallpaper.
