Question: Who is Sidewinder? (http://www.fanhistory.com/w/index.php?title=Russet_Noon&diff=1174592&oldid=1174381)*

Do they have some sort of grudge against Caito and JF? Were we wrong about Lady S not having any supporters? Or was it just a misunderstanding combined with momentary bad judgment — note that they themselves eventually editted out all the most egregious additions highlighted above.

Then again, maybe Lady S decided to look up "sockpuppetting" and try it out for herself, the way she did with "sarcasm."

I honestly think it's too early to declare Lady S______ to be without supporters. Various people at various points in this mess have commented that they would be interested in reading the book. More likely, however, is the oft-wanked fanfic phenomena of people leaping to the defense of authors they feel have been unjustly or maliciously mocked. Usually, granted, this is a response to what they see as attacks on their preferred writer and/or story, which is clearly not the case here. But someone coming into the middle of this fail storm and not understanding that what we're mocking is Lady's S______'s seemingly supernatural ability to JUST NOT GET IT might take up her tattered cause out of a senses of fairness. I wouldn't put it past her to send a sock in for this kind of thing, but Lady S______ has never shied away from personally taking people on (to her credit, though little good it's done her), so I suspect that Sidewinder is a Real Life or internet friend fighting, as they see it, the good fight.

So, as I understand this:

sidewinder is the same person on LJ and JF and also the person who added Caito's personal info to FanHistory (and now it's there for anyone who looks, unless they purge the page entirely). But this person later removed it? Or did someone else?

And

sidewinder is not Lady Sybilla, unless LS is sidewinder's sockpuppet troll (which is possible, but given Syb's attempt to lodge a complaint with JFA, unlikely?).

I'm supremely uncomfortable with the fact that

sidewinder is a FW member/former participant who put Caito's info up. That's just not cricket.

From what I got, it was a coding FUBAR. Artistic Revolution dropped Caito's info. Michela Ecks wiped the edit to delete it as completely as possible because, erm, Der, let's think about this, and I emailed Caito about it earlier tonight. But FH has an extension that lets you save drafts of edits. If you try to edit an article and there's draft versions saved, it tends to load the last draft copy as the text. So if you're not paying attention, it can cough up--and save--the last saved draft as your edit. This was in no way malicious and has since been wiped completely from the site, as per policy.
