My concubines are lame. Drown them all!
SGA ficcer is not getting the acclaim she says she deserves. So she is going to delete her LJ. Her 560 "friends" are not fawning enough so what's the point?!

There are at least 60 comments on her epic fic's last two chapters now. I'm too lazy to figure out how many there were before she flipped out. Also she posted the last chapter only yesterday.

And the mea culpas pour in--three pages of "I'm sorry/I suck/Plz don't go."

>
And one of them thinks she can get some LOVE IF SHE FLOUNCES TOO!

When someone points out the flounce. [info]sardonicsmiley doesn't argue much.

And she is finally called on her tantrum.

LOL ENTITLEMENT DEBATE.

eta: WOT? "I'm turning commenting off until the last part, because otherwise that would just be too much."

So she turned commenting off and then bitched about no comments? O_o

eta2: All this for an alias change?

ETA3: BAHLEETION!! (saved pages below)

page 1, page 2, page 3, and expanded smackdown. And page 4 thanks to [info]longtimegone! :D

What really kills me is that she just finished her WIP. Now you have to understand, I almost never start WIPs because I have seen so many peter out. So I wait until they are actually finished, bookmark the index page and hold off until the weekend to try to find time to read a 13 chapter story. She published her final chapter sometime this week. I never even got a chance to read this masterpiece, let alone comment on it. Honestly. Okay, to be completely honest I am a sporadic commenter and I probably would not have actually said "way to go", but still, give people like me a chance to blow you off, don't just post and then jerk it 48 hours later,

Clearly, fanfic fans need to realize that BNF's consume comments as fuel, and will flounce cease writing if the comments stop.

I wonder if she had taken the time to comment on each of her "friends" journals - ya know, just to maintain the friendships?

I like her first fic in SGA, I stopped reading because I commented at length about how I enjoyed one fic, and mentioned how I found how John killed some unarmed allies with with no apparent consequences at one point kind of strange and disturbing.
Her response to my thoughtful comment? one line: "well, I warned for murder."
So I figured, well, she obviously just gets off writing about people in pain and anguish, and has decided basic logic and characterization get in the way. Good luck to her...

I understand the desire for a more in depth comment then "When R U posting the rest????!!! SRSLY." But hey, they're asking for more so obviously they enjoy the story, right? I don't know if I'd expect someone to leave a comment like "Well, I understand why you have Character A do this, but I'm confused as to Character B's motivation?"

[info]ari_o - I have more of page 3 saved (just realized as I was planning to shut down for the night). In your page 3 cap, the comments stop at livrelibre but I have more comments/responses that were posted after him/her.

Problem is, I have NO clue how to get it to you. I made a web archive of the page but I'm on a Mac so it opens in Safari. So I then selected "mail contents of this page", which saved it all in an email but I don't know how large the file will be nor do I have your address*. Thirdly, I saved it as a PDF, which saved as 15 pages! I don't have the tools to convert it to a picture file. These were the only options I could find on my computer (screen grab would only capture a small section at a time).

Any advice? Do you want it and if so, what shall I do next? I have a screened entry over on LJ *where you can leave an email address so I can email the page to you. Perhaps you have better skillz when it comes to conversions? ;) Also, I uploaded the pdf so maybe you or someone else knows how to convert it to a clickable screen cap as well? It does have my log-in name at the top but I don't really think it matters much, right?

Anyway, let me know what I should do. I'll check in the morning before I leave for work.

I was going to say that I thought writing fan fiction was about having fun, but after seeing this type of behavior over and over, I'm beginning to question that.

With her comments about pouring time and energy into her last chapter, she makes writing fan fiction seem almost like a chore, and not a hobby, to her. Perhaps it's good she stepped back, because it seems she's forgotten how to have fun with it - if she ever knew how to in the first place.

Hopefully, with time, she'll realize that the problem was with her, and not her readers/online friends. Maybe she'll even point and laugh at how entitled she seemed at one point. It's like an unspoken rule that everyone has to fuck up online at least once.

This fanfic writer's behavior is appalling. Six hundred people on her friends list, sixty comments for just two chapters of a story ... and she's upset she isn't getting enough attention? There are fanfic writers out there who'd kill just for one review, much less sixty, and be polite and humble enough to thank that reviewer rather than flounce like a whiny, self-entitled brat.

I don't get why some people think quantity = quality. The more comments you get, the higher the chances are many of those comments would be just something like, "I liked this a lot!" (Not to say those comments have no value, but ultimately they don't offer any concrit that's actually helpful to the writer.) Between having, say, ten comments that are well-thought out and six hundred repetitive, empty praises, I'd pick the former any day.

So yeah, it's pretty funny to me she's raging over something as inane and shallow as not getting enough comments for her stories. It's pointless. And all it's done is prove to everyone what her true intentions for writing and being in the fandom are: Getting as much attention as possible.

I...I'm not sure. I started out with a story that became semi-known and averaged 60-80 comments per chapter (oh, NSYNC fiction, I miss you!). I went to fandoms where no one knows my name. I wrote one of my worst stories in the CSI fandom and at current count have 159 reviews.

I just started posting a WIP to my newest fandom and jumped for joy when there were SEVEN unique visits to the prologue. Never mind that it died off towards Chapter One and Two. That's seven people that may have accidently clicked the link! Go me!

Honestly, I can't understand it. Did I drop fandoms because of lack of interest? Yeah, on my part. I never packed up my toys and went home. My craptastic fic, from NSYNC to Knight Rider to CSI to WWE, is still out there, if only for my amusement and if there's one person feeling nostalgic and wants to look it up. I never flounced. I never made a bitchy post declaring my intent to leave and fuck y'all for not loving me more. I grew up, I learned, I honed my talent, and I appreciate the one fucking person that has my newest story on alert at ff.net.

Do I miss the days that I got mega comments? Sure. My NSYNC Mary Sue stories were epic in their feedback (and bad writing). My CSI fic STILL gets comments to this day. And if all I get is that one person putting my newest fic on Story Alert? Fantastic! One person out there, other than myself was interested enough to learn what happens next.

...sorry, entitlement like this makes me pissy. Shall I go get a towel?

Quite OT, but feedback count confuses me in general. I once wrote a story which I liked very much, and it got exactly 5 comments. I was kind of bummed, because I didn't think is was bad, at least not compared to the dreck that the fandom and pairing is infamous for producing. But I shrugged and moved on, and eventually cut ties with the pairing because of lack of interest.

Then a year or two later, I notice that it's nominated for the pairing fic awards. It didn't win, it was up against a bunch of BNFs, but a fic which had only gotten 5 comments was nominated for a fucking award. How... how am I supposed to interpret this, anyway? It wasn't a friend nominating me, I dislike fandom awards and they know this quite well.

Feedback is so fucking confusing. Another reason you shouldn't pay attention to it.

She wanted fame?

Well, she's famous now.

And SGA in general no longer has the readers of its heyday when getting six pages of feedback for a throwaway was the norm. Does she think she's above the natural cycle of fannish fickleness?

She needs to learn how to time her fandom hopping better. Or is she heading to Merlin as we speak?

On the fourth saved page, she says that she's maybe wishing she wasn't going to leave and that if people are mad she must be doing something right.

Friending without at least saying 'Hi' is incredibly rude

Wait, what? Really? Is this an actual thing, or just something made up in that commenter's Happy Shiny Fandom Utopia? Have I been wrong on the internet all these years?

And why is it this that jumps out at me? Man, Dreamwidth's "access" and "subscribe" labels are looking more and more fucking genius.

*dies laughing*

Oh hey. I have over 700 people who have friended my lj. Do i get that many comments per post? Hell freakin' no. And the 'omg, i posted this chapter with the last of my strength and all you lamers did was scream for moooooar!!' is just....huhwha? I saw *no* begging for more, just praise. That she didn't actually respond to. So, wtf ever, bye-bye, don't let the fandom door hit'cha.

*tabaqui on lj*
