My concubines are lame. Drown them all!
SGA ficcer is not getting the acclaim she says she deserves. So she is going to delete her LJ. Her 560 "friends" are not fawning enough so what's the point?!

There are at least 60 comments on her epic fic's last two chapters now. I'm too lazy to figure out how many there were before she flipped out. Also she posted the last chapter only yesterday.

And the mea culpas pour in--three pages of "I'm sorry/I suck/Plz don't go."

>
And one of them thinks she can get some LOVE IF SHE FLOUNCES TOO!

When someone points out the flounce. [info]sardonicsmiley doesn't argue much.

And she is finally called on her tantrum.

LOL ENTITLEMENT DEBATE.

eta: WOT? "I'm turning commenting off until the last part, because otherwise that would just be too much."

So she turned commenting off and then bitched about no comments? O_o

eta2: All this for an alias change?

ETA3: BAHLEETION!! (saved pages below)

page 1, page 2, page 3, and expanded smackdown. And page 4 thanks to [info]longtimegone! :D

600 people have friended me. I don't know why. Most of you have never said a goddamned word to me. Are you all spambots? Did you just come for the porn? How did you find me? Was it really too much work to hit the little comment button and go 'Hi' or even fucking 'LOL good story LOL'? Seriously?

INORITE! She's so open and friendly!

Seriously. This reminds of an SG-1 writer who went nuts because I recced one of her fics in a reccing comm. "How dare she??" she sputtered on her LJ. "It's not like she's ever left FB or anything!"

Do people *not* get taught how to behave in public...oh, nevermind...

"How dare someone say my fic is good, and send more readers and feedback my way!!"

I got recced once without my knowledge. It was utterly confusing for a day suddenly getting 20 reviews rather than 1 or 2. Did make me happy, though.

I love being rec'd but I never know what to do once I find out it's happened. Help me, Obi-Wan F_W, what's the etiquette here? Is it okay to go and say "OMG thanks for the rec!" or is it better to just beam in delight and say nothing? *frets*

If I see it within the week, I usually say thanks. If not, I think it generally looks too stalkery. Mostly because the chances are I was, er, doing a search on my own name.

... *whistles innocently*

Oooh, good rule of thumb, thanks. And my god, who would ever do such a thing as self-google? *looks hugely innocent*

I've been recced once or twice, and every time I've looked at the comments of a rec posts, it's been 95% the recced writers thanking the reccer, and 5% actual readers thanking for the recs.

I sometimes think reccing is for the benefit of the egos of the writers. Might just be this particular fandom, though. (No, I didn't comment to thank the reccer. I suspect this hurt my future chances of being recced.)

Late to the party, but: I, for one, use recs HEAVILY when they're available, and I almost never remember to thank reccers. I doubt I'm the only one. So while it may look like an ego exercise (and I don't know your fandom, so maybe it is, there) I'd assume there are a lot of people clicking the links and disappearing.

(In fact, just to be specific, I love recs list in SGA, due South, and especially Merlin, because there is SO much crap being written in that fandom it's unbelievable.)

I didn't have a lj account at the time, so I saved myself a moral dilemma.

I love being recc'd but I hate not being able to read and bookmark and generally dribble over the rec.

Being able to do so helps me when I only get 200 comments on a fic and feel a flounce coming on.

Heh, the way I found my rec was by hitting the comm tag for an unpopular character, squeeing over a new fic, and then realising it was mine.

I found mine because I was inexplicably flooded by people commenting in German. There was a brief period of boggling, then I applied freetranslation.com and I discovered the super awesome culprit. Mmm, international readership FTW.
