Dumb Vs. Dumber the rematch! Those wacky kin!
Just take me to the wank!
On one of the stupidly numerous the LJ communities for Otherkin (this one simply called “Otherkin”) A dark and mysterious stranger appears to ask a simple, harmless question.
The stranger is nightmare_mode. And the question? What would people think if he thought his spirit (for example, JUST for *example* people. lol) was a Pikachu. Would that be crazy, even by otherkin standards?
Considering this is a community of people who believe that they are reincarnated elves and unicorns, you’d think that an electric rat wouldn’t be such a stretch, right? But if you know beans about otherkin you know that they hate what are called otakukin (reincarnations of anime and video game characters) even more than normal people do; if that’s possible. (something about sullying their pristine otherkin image ROTFL) And this subject has been talked, or rather, flamed, to death, and actually killed the community for a while a few years ago.
However, while there are a few chuckles to be had at Mr. _mode’s question (and one post comparing Pikachu to black people?) tempers seem to have cooled. He is advised to believe he’s a Pikachu all he wants just for the sake of decency, call it something else! LOL @ bizarre sub-cultural mores.
And then there’s froudgoblin, who in the middle of a rofflecopter summons her favorite (or maybe least-favorite, it’s hard to tell) otakukin, Overlord_Mordax to explain the situation . You may remember Overlord_Mordax as the wanker who thinks Terry Prattchett is a meanie who kills stories. Yep. She’s an otakukin of some digimon character. It explains so much.
The “Overlord” of course shows up like red wine on white carpet, and the fun *really* begins, because froudgoblin can’t resist arguing with her. The two of them get into a totally LOLarious e-slapfight. Overlord_Mordax tries to convince froudgoblin that, as froudgoblin quotes back at her for added irony “In my opinion there is nothing strange about believing you're a pikachu”. Whereupon Mordax backpedals, and tries to distract everyone from her rampant crazy by adamantly butchering quantum physics. Froudgoblin gains a few points for calling her on this rape of science, but loses a billion for believing she is a goblin. Froudgoblin reacts to Mordaxx's cry of 'Bigot!' by telling her she's never experienced real racism or homophobia (and being a yaoi fan doesn't count). But has she ever looked into a mass grave?
When froudgoblin’s attempt at earth logic fails to sway our plucky otakukin’s beliefs, she resorts to calling Mordax fat and insecure. Mordax decides to tell froudgoblin all the myriad reasons why she has a wonderful life, and is not insecure at all (sure Mordy, we believe you ;) ) Oh and incidentally anime characters aren’t drawings by an author (bwuh?) they’re REAL PEOPLE. SOB! Somewhere in there she tries to convince froudgoblin that goblins are fictional too. Other people agree, but froudgoblin invokes the power of religion for great justice. Myth is religion! Anime are just stories! All sane people believe this according to froudgoblin. Meanwhile we sane people are looking on and thinking of sending them both meds through the mail.
Froudgoblin declares that she is “bored now” but she and Overlord_Mordax continue to bicker incessantly long after they have run out of meaningful taunts, and are now simply mocking each other for trying to get the last word in, as they both try to get the last word in.
While Mordax presumably goes to cry to the digimon in her head, froudgoblin continues to goad the other posters in the thread, and warmly congratulate anyone who appears to agree with her for being an intelligent human being, or dragon, or elf. But not pokemans.
Oh yeah, and somewhere in there, the OP nightmare_mode replies once and shamefacedly slinks back into the night.
I think the moral of this story is “don’t do drugs, kids.” Or possibly “no furbashing, plz.”
ETA: removed distracting commentary. ETA 2: added a direct link to the wank, and a cut. Sorry for the fail.
