Red Dwarf Wank Redux
Remember the first-ever Red Dwarf wank from a while ago?

Well, Norman Lovett is, unsurprisingly, still not happy about Back to Earth and his absence there within.

Only this time it's some of the fans he's having a go at -

And of course somebody has to bump the original wank thread to add to the general nastiness, because the most logical course of action here is to continue talking about it and feeding into the whole mess. Who wants to bet they put yet another 5 pages onto it?

ETA: More fans getting in on the mudslinging. Fun times, folks, fun times.

Wait, there's a Red Dwarf fandom? With fanfics and slash and BNFs and everything? Why has it taken me fifteen years to learn about this?! I loved that show when I was but a wee fangirl, even if it was never the same after Season 6 and my mother did tease me for liking Rimmer best.

Oh yeah, the wank... I knew there was a reason I preferred Hattie Hayridge.

I know! I am so filled with joy at this moment. In 2001 when my family went to New Zealand/Australia for a vacation I checked out every bookstore I could find to locate Red Dwarf books, because they weren't printed in the US.

So, yeah.

I don't know about BNFs, but there's definitely fanfic and slash, much to the annoyance of the fanboys, who don't get why anyone would want to write about Rimmer and Lister having sex.

Turning on your fans -- never classy, always a bad move. Often the last one, when out of desperation the actor/creator has nowhere left to turn. Or at least the last one because that's often the career-ending move right there.

Soooo I only know that Cassie Claire plagiarized Red Dwarf when she wasn't plagiarizing Buffy. That alone has prevented me from being interested in seeing any of it. But now? Now I want to check it out.

If he'd been a lovely person that nobody could imagine working without, would he have been excluded? Doubtful. Looks to me like he was written out for being a tiresome old miseryguts that nobody could be bothered with any more. And probably he isn't even funny these days. I'm not surprised he can't see that, but apparently the rest of the world can!
