Russell T. Davies: Tinhat SPN Wincest Shipper! In other news, Torchwood wank. Spoilers for Torchwood follow. Long story short: In Torchwood: Children of Earth, Ianto Jones has bitten the dust, and creator Russell T. Davies is quick to dismiss his flailing fans. In his interview with Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello, he claims that "It's not a backlash, really. It's just a few people posting online. He presents his own reasoning as to why Ianto had to die, as well as dismissing implications of having an "anti-gay" agenda by killing off a homosexual character. Comments are varied. While some seem resigned and understanding, most people are butthurt that their favorite character died. Others think he's dissing Supernatural somehow, and a few are indignant at RTD's suggestion to "go look at poetry" if they can't handle watching dramatic television shows. The interview is copied and posted to the Some Twitter users tweet James Moran, a Torchwood writer. James Moran's blog post about Part Four has also come under fire. Holy fuckburn titspangling cockbananas! Then there's a writer flounce! TWoP is mad. ONTD brings on more succint, less eloquent RTD hate. Some people take it upon themselves to send coffee packets in protest. Others state that I don't like it so it isn't canon or My memories are tainted, and, as for Gwen, I really wish somebody would shoot her. Others devolve into capslocky rage. The entitlement of it all - it burns. There's also a reaction post to Part Four, so you can see wank and butthurt develop in real time! But the best part of the whole thing is this gem from the original RTD interview: DAVIES: There’s a risk that some people won’t come back to watch now that Ianto’s gone. I thank them for watching the show and I recommend they go watch Supernatural, because those boys are beautiful. And don’t tell me they’re brothers. [Laughs] Not in my mind. I bet he writes fanfiction. This post brought to you by the ridiculously helpful mousies on Post a comment in response: |
