And the Twicon wank has arrived!
As predicted, Twicon's performance was less than stellar to quite a few fans. Heck, heatherdallas starts off pointing out her disappointment with the con Friday afternoon before a lot of events even got underway. Some are saying they had fun, but none of it seems very emphatic. sunray16 points out what a disaster the Celebrity Q&A session was, complete with WTF? photo of Peter Facinelli! When talk of next year's show comes up, Kiley 1231 suggests that everyone should go to one of Creation Entertainment's shows. Plus further down in the thread she talks about how the volunteers got royally screwed by management. Meanwhile, the one attempt at a positive thread about the con has gotten shot down with the second post.

I do wonder when Skylarkdevlin is going to show up, since she has been the main apologist for Twicon throughout the various trials the con has gone through. I'm sure once she hops on, all hell is going to break loose...

ETA: The blogoshpere is beginning to buzz about the negative reviews Twicon is getting. Rob My World's review of Twicon is scathing. And Convention Fans is telling a similar story.

ETA II: Twicon's Facebook page: TwiCon would like to thank everyone who attended the event. We welcome your feedback, both positive and constructive. Please stay tuned to the official web site for an important statement from the TwiCon partners regarding the Dallas event. Thank you. Which is met with skepticism on the forum

ETA III Bailey Gauthier of the Twicon partners actually apologizes to the fans, while Becky Scoggins just makes a half-assed attempt at defending the con.

ETA IV: Now Bailey is taking her butthurt to Tweeter, and her friends are busy soothing her ego.

ETA V [info]kryptongirl has some interesting personal insights in Twicon Partner Bekca Graspy who apparently has had some wank involving ONTD_Twatlight

Free time to finally share some stuff. Hopefully this isn't too disjointed and is at least mildly entertaining.

I ended up meeting Becky on the livejournal community ONTD_Twatlight. I'm not sure how much you know about them, but I will spare you the details for now. Becky, or "martinigirlxo", was part of what I like to call "Team Srs Bsns". Twatlight is obviously not a 100% Twilight loving community, but there are a few of us who harbor some srs bsns tendencies and don't get mocked out of the room because we aren't total crazy Twihards. I guess Becky just couldn't help herself and decided that being totally batshit was a lot more fun than hanging out with all of us.

One of the Twatlight members had been getting us "Twatlight Exclusives", info from within Summit Entertainment (those fabulous folks that bring us Twilight on the big screen) that hadn't been out yet. It was a lot of fun; we were getting news before Summit ever made the announcements. Becky, superfriends with the people over at a very popular Twilight fansite, lent their webmasters her livejournal account with viewing privileges inside Twatlight (lolwut) so that they could screencap these "exclusives" and e-mailed them to Summit to try and squeal on the person working over there who was giving out insider information. I know, right?

The Twatlight mods are super sleuths found out her involvement and banned her not long after, but I didn't find all of this out until the TwiCon drama had started and I was like "Hey, where did Becky go?"

I won't even lie to you, a fan run con sounded totally awesome and fun and I was really excited when Becky responded to my volunteer application. I was totally apprehensive working with someone so young who had stuff like this to say about the con:

Rebecca: and I'm a partner on a million-dollar account
so, yeah, it's going pretty well for the 18 year old lol

Rebecca: like I like the books, but I am totes in this for the professional experience lol

~*~totes~*~

Becky Scroggins or whatever is from a Literary Management firm or some shit, so this is just my experience with one of the other partners.
