Hey, F_W, remember Jack Thompson? He's a longtime activist and former attorney, who has in the past expressed his disapproval of such injustices as rap music, radio shows, theHOMOSEXUALS! gays, the Pixelantes (?), moms, Dennis McCauley, "culture war Pearl Harbor pigeons" Japan, the wimmenz, video games, flowers, the Florida Bar Association, small letter "M"s, people who are not Real Men, and, of course, the Satan.
The Wank:
His latest icecapades involve Facebook. Specifically, one group on Facebook called "I Hate Jack Thompson", in which someone apparently posted, "Jack Thompson should be smacked across the face with an Atari 2600".* Thompson responded by personally faxing Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to have the postings removed. And comparing himself to Barack Obama.
Facebook, also home to such serious groups of discussion as When I was your age, Pluto was a planet and Mean Kitty is amazing, failed to respond. In return, Thompson is now suing the company for emotional distress.
To the tune of 120 million dollars.
178 comments on the Fark thread, although I'm sure there's plenty more where that came from. "What really boggles my mind is that I know, somehow, deep inside that massive and horribly twisted ego of his, he thinks this will somehow make people think he's less of a douchebag."
* There are apparently pages of similar Facebook groups, though mostly under 100 members each. "I Hate Jack Thompson" was clocked at well under 2000 when I came across the story.
