Though if you run in the wrong circles, it's FF8 they idolize. Which is an okay game and all, but I got really sick of OMGTHEIRLOVEISSO~~BADLYPACED~~PURE.

Anyway, any deviation from The System will make people whine. Hell, there are adherents to each of the FF franchise, and at least one faction will whine about any given new thing. OMG 3D will kill the series. OMG romance suxx0rz. OMG they look like plushies. OMG voice acting is the devil. OMG girls in tight clothes, cannot cope. Et cetera.

And then outside, we have the Square Sucks, You're All Corporate Whores faction vs. the Square Rules, You're All Elitist Nerds faction.

Lots and lots. The same people that say seven and eight aren't "real" FFs. I'd hate to hear what they think of ten, but I stopped hanging out with such people before it came out. c.c
To be honest, I didn't really like the look of FF9 when it came out. But, I decided to give it a chance. I rented, rather than buying (good thing). I actually stopped playing it before my rental time was up. I tried, and I tried to like it, and there WERE some good parts to it. Some of the FMVs were gorgeous. But I just couldn't get into it. (And yeah, the plushie-looking characters did play a part in it, but not the only part.)

It...does strike me as a little weird that it is EXTENSIVELY different from FFX, considering it's only a couple years post-game. And it's a direct sequel.

I'm sorry but my Rikku could kick the shit out of anything by the end of the game. She's not just going to lose all her knowledge for Square's convenience. Just always seemed poorly conceived to me.

However, my antipathy about the original game leads to two conclusions: 1) I don't care about getting X-2 cause I didn't like the first 2) I'll play X-2 and not give a shit that they were being dumb because I didn't like the first. XD

What the fucking hell is wrong with these people? That's the coolest fucking costume design I've seen in months! It is the shit! And if they're fans of shoujo ai, shouldn't they be just as eager for some visuals of the skin?

I also love the suggestion that sneaking in girl-love scenes will magically transform the game into top-notch RPG material.

I went through all the costume designs from that page someone linked on that board.. KYA! Alot of these designs are dead sexy. I also noticed they reused some weapons--Yuna's got Tidus' and Rikku's got Auron's. But hot damn, yesh, most of these costumes are pretty awesome--Nomura did a good job. (Now where's KH2?)

I won't comment on the baby wank, as it is definitely a beaded pony.

	People, PLEASE. Don't we go through this each and every time Square decides to up and do something different with their games? Honestly, if it were up to most of these people, we'd still be playing "expansion pack"-type add-ons for Final Fantasy 3/6, and they'd still be rendered as 2D superdeformed sprites.
