SPN Icon Wank
So,[info]spacefragments has a Dean icon they wanna use. Well, according to this icon mouse, they don't love Sam enough to use that icon.

After all, you can only like ONE character on any show and [info]spacefragments is violating FANDOM LAW, by pretending otherwise.

Furthermore, the Icon Mouse is not only appalled by the hypocrisy of using an icon for a 'ship you may or may not support, they find it bratty and a bit offensive.


In defense, [info]vivalana offers to provide an Official Fandom Icon Operator's License. For a price.


There's also a whole secondary wank about mishaland and how offensive the comm is to wholesome, decent Wincest 'shippers and the epic love of J2.

I saw that icon, and I thought it was funny because Sam is so pissed off at being left out of the action. So ignorant of SPN fandom am I that I failed to realize that the true (and only legitimate) purpose of the icon is to deliver a sincere and unqualified "FUCK YOU!" to other fans because of their shipping preferences.

But I suppose, having been in HP fandom, I should have guessed.

Y'know, I would almost get this kind of ship wank if SPN was a small fandom and Dean/Castiel getting popular would mean a lot less fic for the Wincesters --- except SPN is a ginormous fandom. When I wrote a Watchmen/SPN fic and went looking for a comm to put it in I couldn't believe how many active fic comms there were for SPN, at least three or four just general fic comms and then seemingly thousands of slash, wincest-only, slash-but-no-wincest, ship comms, all the way to incredibly specific kink comms.

I don't know how the SPN fans keep up. There's more fic posted in a day there in in some fandoms in a year.
