Meet Lironess, a person of such stunning perfection that she feels confident, nay obliged, to point out the shortcomings of others. Constantly.

When she's not diagnosing diseases over the internet, she's apparently advocating approaching strangers at cons with skin diseases to ask them:

"OMG What the hell is wrong with your skin?"

Yeah, not even kidding*.

Unfortunately no one told [info]betnoir that icky diseased people exist solely as teaching moments for the beautiful people, and that she better learn to live with it or else spend the rest of her life in misery. Luckily for her then, that [info]lironess is here to explain it to her.

The spat lands in [info]sf_drama, where [info]lironess baleeted her most offensive comments (though considering what's left - just WOW) and apparently whole threads if bizarro goodness like handing out condoms to furries, and horse sex, and her inability to spell freak. she then demonstrates her utter lack of getting teh internets, as well as proving that there really isn't a maximum fail quota per post.

After calling like, everyone, a coward or accusing them of hiding (for commenting in an unlocked post in a very public community? huh?) [info]lironess prepares her flounce by calling [info]betnoir (and everyone else) out. As in, *cue scareh music* she can FIND people:

"It has been fun to watch you all hide on a community and make your statements thinking I would not see and reply. However, I can find all of you, any where."

[info]betnoir names a place and time.

but yanno, it's waaaay to far, plus it'd be a hassle and [info]betnoir's fucking parents would sue and it would be a big mess and [info]lironess doesn't care enough to bother. Or something.

*I debated if this should be in UNF because disability!fail = so fucking unfunny, plus there's bonus!fail on both sides, but for sheer overwhelming WTF wankiness I think it belongs here.

Think she's capable of finding us "hiding" at F_W?

Also, is there a reason she's not banned from, well, everywhere? She has entertainment value for wank comms, but any reasonably competent mod of a regular comm should know by now to nuke her from orbit.

I remember once watching a reality show where a competition involved having the (young, female) contestants lick honey off of attractive women in bathing suits. Both quit after not much progress. One commented that, "We didn't know where those girls had been. They could have had eczema or psoriasis or something."

All I could think was, man, there are so many legitimate reasons to not want to lick honey off of someone.

I don't find this funny at all. Here, have some chicken:

Chicken Oreganato

7 chicken thighs
2 teaspoons dried oregano
salt and pepper and garlic powder to taste
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 lemon, juiced

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
2. Wash chicken well and pat dry. Mix oregano with salt and pepper and garlic powder to taste. Rub well over all of the chicken pieces. Put chicken in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
3. Whisk the oil with the lemon juice and drizzle half over the chicken. Bake in preheated oven for 15 minutes. Turn the chicken pieces and drizzle with the remaining oil/lemon mixture. Bake for another 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm, cold or at room temperature!

It's because of people and attitudes like hers that my 12 year old daughter, who has Epidermolysis Bullosa, has been known to have the following exchange:

"What's wrong with your skin, is it contagious?"
Daughter: "it's genetic"
"But is it contagious? Can I catch it?"
::looks at me:: Daughter: "dad, can this person catch my radiation poisoning by standing this close to me?"
::Person scuttles off in horror while daughter laughs maniacally::

Potatoes au Gratin with Gruyere Cheese
[info]tehrin
2009-12-27 09:32 pm UTC (link)
Got this off the internet a while ago. It's become a family favorite:

3 pounds potatoes, sliced - Peeled or not, I like not peeled, but that's me)
1 1/2 cups creme fraiche*, stirred to loosen
1 1/2 cups Gruyere cheese, shredded
2 tbsp chopped fresh Italian parsley
salt and pepper
butter

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease 13x9 baking dish with butter.
2. Arrange half of the potato slices in the dish, overlapping slightly, sprinkle with half cheese and spread half of the creme fraiche over potatoes. Cover with the second layer of potatoes, sprinkle cheese and spread the rest of the creme over it. Sprinkle parsley on top and salt and pepper generously.
3. Bake gratin for 30 minutes, uncovered. Then, reduce temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, do not cover, and cook for 45 minutes or until potatoes are lightly golden browned.
4. Remove from oven and let stand for ten minutes before serving. Serves up to eight people.

*This is hard to find but some gourmet groceries carry it. To substitute, a day or two ahead of time, heat 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream until luke warm, then remove from heat. Mix in 3 tbsp. buttermilk, then cover and let stand in a warm area for one to two days or then chill until cooking time.

Mustard and Maple Roasted Potatoes
[info]sparklepuss
2009-12-27 10:01 pm UTC (link)
2 pounds (900 grams) small, unpeeled Yukon Gold potatoes (you could use baby red potatoes if you don't have Yukons), quartered or halved (depending on the size of the potato)
1 large yellow onion, cut in largish chunks
2 tablespoons (30 ml) Dijon mustard
1/4 cup (60 ml) pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons (45 ml) soy sauce
1 1/2 (22 ml) tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

1. Preheat oven to 400 F (200 C).

2. Place the potatoes and onions in a large baking dish (I used a glass 9"x13" casserole dish).

3. Mix together the mustard, soy sauce, oil and garlic, until fully blended. Pour over the vegetables in the pan and mix well so that all the vegetables are covered with sauce. Grind black pepper over the top.

4. Cover the pan with foil and place in oven. Let cook for 30 minutes.

5. Take the pan out and stir the vegetables, so that the sauce gets all over everything. Turn the oven down to 350 F (175 C). Place the pan back in the oven without the foil. Let cook for 30 more minutes.

6. Take the pan out again, and stir one more time. Place back in the oven for 30 more minutes. After those 30 more minutes (90 minutes total in the oven) remove the pan and check to see if the potatoes are soft and fully cooked. If not, back into the oven they go for another 10 minutes or until done to your liking.

7. Serve and MMMM.

NOTE: I pre-cooked this dish during the afternoon and then let it sit at room temperature on top of the oven until dinner time. Just before serving, I turned the oven to broil and let it sit under the broiler for about 5 minutes. This made the dish even more rich and caramelized-tasting.

Serves 4

My (in)famous homemade Caesar salad.

1 1/2 romaine hearts
Between 1/4 and 1/2 a cup of fresh-grated parmesan. Be sure that the grated cheese does not contain flour to keep it from clumping. If in doubt, buy a block and grate it yourself.
1 handful of real bacon bits.
optional: blue cheese, chopped or crumbled into small pieces

Dressing:
1 raw egg
2 or 3 cloves garlic, chopped fine
about 3/4 TB olive oil
about 1 1/2 TB lemon juice
optional: squeeze of anchovy paste

Combine dressing ingredients and stir vigorously with a fork until combined well. Refrigerate until ready to use. Chop or tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Put it through the salad spinner, then dump it into a large salad bowl. Add your bacon bits and optional blue cheese, then add your dressing. Toss to coat the lettuce, then start adding parmesan and tossing until you have enough for your taste.

This recipe makes about three regular-sized bowls of salad. (Not a little salad bowl, more like a soup bowl.) It's a full meal for me.

I just read far too much of that silliness, but this comment made it worth it:) (I like it even better without the context)
