I don't think VB's story is running with 4e rules.
Somehow I think if VB ran D&D, he would be one of those people who plays nothing but some kind of incomprehensible homebrew that bears maybe a vague resemblance to 2e, only with five hundred pages of house rules, bizarre new classes, and hundreds of random tables for added 'realism'.
