Lost in the comments of the last post, [info]julian_black tells us that idiomagic has spit out the kool-aid.

The evil twin is yesterday's news, people. Now there's an UNDEAD SHAMAN-WIZARD.

Yeah, I'll repeat that: UNDEAD SHAMAN-WIZARD.

I don't even know. Does it top channeling fictional hobbits? You decide.

ETA: HOLD THE PHONE: UNDEAD SHAMAN-WIZARD EMAILS HERE! All personal info redacted, of course. Thanks [info]bacon_lover!

Also, idiomagic would like us to know that She never drank the kool-aid. She was *cue dramatic music* THE MOLE!

I dunno, there's a reason Deep Throat's identity was never revealed...

Reminder: please use male pronouns when referring to VB/thanfiction, and leave the transfail in the other post, thanks.

Not until Mansquito II: The Revenge of Mansquito" is optioned and filmed.

Or I'll be pissed.

Oh gawd, that thing actually made it to air?

I had brunch with a friend and the guy at (formerly) SciFi who oversaw the selections of movies to be filmed and aired. He had a hard-on for the title, Mansquito.

It was like hanging around with a gamer/D&D player who'd been closeted for so long in the corporate world that he was exploding with joy at being able to talk to someone who could discuss Lost in Space and Tom Corbett: Space Cadet.

The sad thing was I was there trying to network for a job at SciFi, and all he could discuss was that damned film.

The sad thing is, I kind of recall a L&O: CI episode that had vampire novel fans scamming each other....

Yeah, I couldn't help but think they were making fun of LARPers, too.

I thought they were making fun of Anne Rice fans.

That, too. But people seem to think that the two are synonymous, and don't hear the screams of horror from the rest of us LARPers at the thought of YET ANOTHER DAMN LESTAT NOVEL.

Anne Rice, all the batshit and twice the insanity.

Wait, wasn't that Castle, not L&O?

The only reason I would know is that I haven't watched any L&Ofor about four years.

I don't know if Castle did one too, but L&O: CI definitely had an episode like that. I distinctly remember it because it's one of the few episodes I've seen (the only L&O I watch regularly in first-run any more is SVU). They were making fun of Anne Rice fans. As one, it cracked me up very much.

It is definitely L&O: CI because I don't watch Castle and am not familiar with it. I catch CI only in reruns on Bravo, never first-run - and this was a Gorin/Eames episode, some seasons back. It seemed to be mostly a poke at Anne Rice fans, but there was some side-poking thrown in at other types of fandom, too.

Never mind Sharktopus, what the devil is this UK show called Paradox that's mentioned in the comments? Because other than Alice, I don't watch SyFy anymore.

*has found the UK isn't actually afraid of cracky sci fi with dramatic bits thrown in and is gleeful*

Paradox is FlashForward except things actually happen in it.

If you can get past the badly written and not particularly solidly acted first episode - and the "Dude, I don't have the memory of a fruitfly. Seriously" aspect - it actually turns out pretty well in a slightly addictive I-know-it's-crap-but-I'm-enjoying-this-too-much kind of way.
Which makes me sad, because the ratings were relatively poor so I doubt there will be another series.

I never saw FlashForward so he.

Damn it. I'd like to like a show that has another series. *sigh* I mean, besides Who and luckily Primeval (yay!). Ahem. But I'm used to pretty bad first episodes. Seems standard for American shows. Hmm, shall watch it anyway. I love the short British seasons. Makes catch up muuuch easier.

I'm trying to convince myself that the BBC might secretly really like the show and have already given the go ahead for another series. I mean, it was only five episodes long (rather than the usual six) so they were obviously totally planning on a Torchwood style five nights a week thing at some point in the slow period next year, but they brought it forward, and so had to put it on weekly, because it was too amazing to leave on the shelf!

Or not.

I need more, if not actually good, decently cracky sci fi television.

Hey, I live in the land of denial. It's a fun place. You can keep Paradox alive and well. I wouldn't be the first time a show's been brought back. *points to icon*

Crack sci fi seems to exist in Primeval. Oh, and apparently this week's Who. *nods*

Ooh, just remembered, if you haven't seen it/heard of it look up Misfits. It's a very modern British take on the superhero genre. (But not very family friendly)

This one is going to get another season.

I must have laughed for a good five minutes at it. Zombie. Owl. How can any Black Lantern hope to beat that in terms of cool costume? Even the badassedness of Wondy's BL costume didn't match it.
