Can somebody fill me in on what exactly this "Yuletide" thingy is in the first place? I gather it's a fanfic thing that happens around the holiday season, but what is it exactly? A bunch of fics about Christmas? A fanfic gift exchange? Why is this such a big honkin' deal in the first place, particularly with the apparent need to preserve every single fic in it for all time?
