cake or death?
The swan song of one [info]thanfiction aka Andy Blake/VB, etc. He is leaving the internets forver. Maybe. If he doesn't die from his mysterious heart condition--he's going to college. Yes, sir. But he is unlikely to ever give up the cancer sticks.

n.b.: Please use the pronoun he when refering to Andy or face the wrath of pretty much everyone, but especially those who can ban your ass along with the rest of you.

eta: I didn't bother posting a link to Turi's reaction post because it was even more boring than Andy's brave farewell. But some sockpuppet comments to defend Andy.

"These do not exist other than the usual complaints about a failed romance (between he and luvscharlie)."

WAIT WOT? All that frothing from luvscharlie was heart break? D:

It's actually a bit worse. He's saying he's a rare talent and people will still love his work even if he is a total creepster.

Seeing as some of his Harry/Ginny art is up for a couple of awards (and he's in the lead in one category), I'd have to agree.

Frick, I just realized I have one of his fanart on my HD, never realizing it was his. I liked it ;_;

No, you're right. It has nothing to do with that artist's personality or history. Thomas Kinkade's art isn't beautiful cause it's trite crap.

Some friends of mine were telling a story of one of their relatives who visited one of Thomas Kinkade's galleries. It had the usual collection of overpriced prints, but what was so special was original art piece that was on display. It was behind velvet ropes or a curtain or something, and in the staff was giving the kind of reverence you might expect for the Mona Lisa.

So you can add pompous to the list as well.

I like Thomas Kinkade's paintings. There's light and pretty colors.

Of course, once you've seen one, you've kinda seen 'em all.

Thomas Kinkade, ~*Painter of Light*~ wtf? .

If I want light and pretty colours, I'll look at some Renoir. :)

Ow! Sugar overload!!

Hoooooly crap. That's the kind of thing I'd buy my Kinkade-hating mother to mess with her - if it weren't *ridiculously* over-priced. (And sold out. Oh people, what's wrong with you?)

I saw that. :( I'm fairly pissed off about the Ginny one, since it looks exactly like those other prints that were shown to be clear ripoffs of celeb pics.

I agree, but you know what really bugs me about them? They *both* look very derivative - downright imitative, even - of Leela Starsky's art.

You're right - the Leela Starsky influence is especially noticeable in the What Need piece IMO. Bah!

FWIW, he has on at least one occasion drawn in her style as homage. I feel like maybe there was one with tattoos that referenced her by name as well, but I don't really remember and I don't have a link.

*disclaims that I personally take issue only when it comes to being dishonest about tracing, not with tracing itself, etc etc*

Man he is toe to toe with Glockgal in the Ginny section. Glockgal is SO IMMENSLY talented. This is upsetting.

I nominated Glockgal for that particular award if I remember correctly. I will be extremely pissed off if she loses out to Than the piss-artist. :(

I'm right with you on that one, well the pissed off part not the nominating part. After I voted for Glockgal I saw that he was in the lead and did the Scream face. It's actually good to know that she's caught up because I lurve her Ginny in that art.

There are ways to take the sting out of it, or maybe give yourself awful new associations.
