The swan song of one [info]thanfiction aka Andy Blake/VB, etc. He is leaving the internets forver. Maybe. If he doesn't die from his mysterious heart condition--he's going to college. Yes, sir. But he is unlikely to ever give up the cancer sticks.

n.b.: Please use the pronoun he when refering to Andy or face the wrath of pretty much everyone, but especially those who can ban your ass along with the rest of you.

eta: I didn't bother posting a link to Turi's reaction post because it was even more boring than Andy's brave farewell. But some sockpuppet comments to defend Andy.

"These do not exist other than the usual complaints about a failed romance (between he and luvscharlie)."

WAIT WOT? All that frothing from luvscharlie was heart break? D:

If he shows up in Sailor Moon, Pern, Star Wars or Firefly, I'm gonna go live under a rock. Unfortunately, my money is on Firefly, because, if the whole "I am a badass Irishman" was any indication, "badass Cowboy" will be next. Or Highlander, because that's badasses with kilts and katanas.

In short, my money on any fandom that will make him look like an even bigger Gary Stu.

I'd cross off Firefly. Aside from hardcore devotees, it's an aging fandom because there's not a whole lot of new stuff to it. Plus people wouldn't be as receptive to his wildly Stuish AUs unless they centered around something like Wash or Book not dying. And both men are too old for him to want to turn them into his central BAMF characters (tragically, since Book as a BAMF rocks and is, essentially, canon). It's too small for his tastes, his imagination can't compete with the canon comics that have still been coming out, and devotion to Whedon vs. the characters has a much higher ratio than, say, Tolkien or Rowling had, so people aren't going to be as nice to him about him "fixing" Whedon's "mistakes."

He's going to pick a fandom that's wildly popular and has a high concentration of teenage girls in it, and where there's enough WTF about its ending to make AUs popular, too. One where a lot of the fans are known for going to financial excess in their attempts to immerse themselves. Since he's got this whole Tragic Hero thing almost to a creepy art, my money is on Twilight. He's even started up the fan art for it (egad) and his style is inconsistent enough that if he changes his name, nobody's going to go "hey, this stuff looks just like Thanfiction's work..." because that's kinda true for half the crappy drawings on the Internet.

This. Frankly, the fandom needs to be big enough to peel off a substantial number of gullible people.

For a lot of the same reasons, the first thing that came to my mind is the Star Trek reboot. Although getting into Trek-verse would require a fair amount of research, VB could pull it off. Hey, he has before.

I don't think that Star Trek reboot would work very well for him, at least on LJ. It is too close to the HP community I have several friends who are very involved in both fandoms and they know all about thanfiction.

Hmm, point. Also the more I think about it, the more I figure there's not enough High Fantasy in the Trek fandom for VB. He seems to prefer fandoms with an epic feel to them.

That depends... if he can successfully tap into the whole "I'm exactly the sort of sensitive guy you're dreaming of" vibe, he's got them. And they'll even forgive him if he's occasionally creepy because hey, this is the fandom that romanticizes creepy stalkers that sneak into girls' bedrooms to watch them sleep (Edward) and sexually assault them to prove their love (Jacob). That gives him a scary amount of leeway, really. I think the fandom would have a lot less receptivity to the arrival of a lesbian paladin, so I doubt we'll see a costume change back into Amy or Victoria.

If he makes up/gets a girl to start bragging to the Twihards about him, how sensitive and romantic and yet kickass he is, and slowly but surely this girl allegedly gets him to read Twilight and he gets online and starts telling the Twihards how he understands and how AMAAAAZING these books are and how he is here to bring the ladies of the world chivalry and stalking and porn...

I've heard of at least one male semi-BNF in Twilight fandom. A guy called Kaleb Nation who refers to himself as the Twilight Guy. He was a guest at Twicon Dallas, which doesn't necessarily make him BNF, but it's probably close as you'd get.

I think those are all too small/too old/possessed of too high a fan age average to be of interest to him. (Though there were a surprising number of dumb teenage girls in the Pern fandom some ten years ago when I was in it...)

I know I wanted to be Menolly/Lessa growing up. I wouldn't be surprised if the draw is still there.
