Once upon a time
Snagged from wank_report with some edits by yours truly.

In the land of the internets, there was a community called house_cuddy. For four years the denizens played and frolicked. Sunshine and lollipops ruled the day and unicorns ran free.

And then shit got real...

It all started on January 29, 2010, when someone spammed all over LJ House-related communities for merchandise from a Russian website. Most places ignored it but house_cuddy fed the troll with added anti-Russia wank for extra measure. Mod, lissiePissie, deletes the spam and in the afternoon announces that things have been so wanky that she's put the comm on moderated status.

Nothing could possibly go wrong with that, right? Right?

Oh nay- within a few hours, that post is deleted and fellow mod fishingvegas announces that he has kicked out lissiepissie and will be taking over.

When fishingvegas' new vision is not embraced the most logical course of action is chosen-

house_cuddy is deleted.

Another community, housecuddylolol (a House/Cuddy comm that strives to be less serious, apparently), makes a post about house_cuddy being deleted.

"He made a post announcing I was no longer mod, and as predicted, things blew up. I couldn't get into the entry because I was ~banned~, but I heard all about it. He emailed me back really soon, asking me to come back as a mod, provided I "apologize" and agree to "run everything by him" in the future. I refused to agree to those conditions. Later, it was taking me a bit longer to email him back because I was trying to calm down and think and not fly off the handle. I was trying to decide if it was worth going back or not, if I wanted to continue to work with somebody like that, like... I had a lot to think about, so I wasn't emailing him back as promptly as before. He sent another email saying that me not responding to his email fast enough was causing chaos in the community. I told him I didn't owe him anything anymore, that any chaos there was his own doing, and that I'm not going to speed up my reply just to spare his feelings. When people continued to "attack" him as he waited for my email, he decided he couldn't take the heat and the only solution was to delete the community."

But then GASP-
The community is undeleted and hihoplastic is reinstated as a mod!

Only to be deleted again.

Here's the breakdown of events-
- 3 mods: A, B, C
- mod B resigns, and the others have to choose a new mod
- C declares that he has found a new mod: D (who doesn't really watch the show anymore)
- A asks whether it's really worthwhile having a mod who's not really a fan
- C takes away A's mod status, bans A from the community, and then announces what he's done to the community
- the community is NOT HAPPY
- much wank ensues in C's announcement post
- C promptly deletes the community
- much more wank
- the community is reinstated, with C as mod, and E (a previous mod who dislikes A) as maintainer
- E posts to the comm, announcing that she's taking over, and informing everyone that she is not interested in wank, complaints, or rehashing of old issues ("old issues" being code for "what happened yesterday")
- a few hours pass
- the community is again deleted

There is mass confusion as to what happened to cause the community to be deleted again. As a frothy rage is whipped up an explanation comes through-

He is of the mind that since he "ruined the community" anyway, that he may as well just delete it to get back at all of the "rude and inconsiderate" fans that "personally attacked him"

Yes, there were comments. I have caps of the first and third page which I will have up soon. He's gone through and deleted all comments.

	This happens in every new fandom -- new show comes out, fans start to build a fanbase for new show, fans of new show act smug about how their fandom is sane and wank free, fans of new show attempt to entice fans of old shows into their fandom to enjoy the wank-free paradise, then the wank starts. 	Well, I think there will be periodic wanks as the fandom develops -- but true batshittery, the kind that inevitably has people comparing them to Harry Potter, doesn't seem to arrive until the third year mark. 	Oh, neither do I. I can't stand House and can't for the life of me understand why he is tolerated, let alone popular. I mean, who hasn't fantasized about being the snarky bitch who always has the best comeback for every dumbass one meets? (The secret is having scriptwriters, I'm guessing.) I think most House fans are able to enjoy the show while recognizing that House is in fact a terrible human being and having him as a doctor, co-worker, or employee would not be even slightly enjoyable.

For me, the realization that House is the sort of doctor that my mom (who is a nurse) complains about having to deal with and that if he tried any of his shit with her she would punch him so hard in the balls that his distant ancestors would feel it makes the show even more enjoyable.

Well, really, it was a girl, who happened to be Russian, who posted about her Cafepress store where she's selling Huddy stuff. It would've been on-topic for the community if it allowed ads, but it didn't, and there's a question if she knew that. The real problem was that the fact that the girl is Russian was used as an excuse to start bashing Russia and Russians as a whole. Had it not been for the ethnofail, the blow-up would likely never have happened.

this...is the most impressive bit of mod-craziness I have seen on an LJ com. It's even better than all the BNF flouncing that happened when the new mods took over at Padackles RPS a couple years ago. Keep bringing the crazy, House fans. Is it just me, or is it the House/Cuddy shippers that seem to be the craziest in this particular fandom? And this incident wasn't even shipping-related.

As someone who lives with a House/Wilson shipper (my sister), both sides can be bugfuck insane. It really doesn't help that Cuddy's actress, Lisa Edelstein, seems to be a big supporter of House/Cuddy and that different writers for the show seem to indicate preference for one or the other. Then we get episodes that seem to serve as nothing more than shipbaiting/teasing for one side or the other, which only serves to get those waters worked up into even more of a frenzy.

This is what I've gathered from living with a very vocal House/Wilson shipper, anyways, so I may have some things wrong. But that's the perspective, anyways!
