In the Zelda lovers community on Lj Starrose17 posts a slash fanfic, between Link and Link

RPgod2 is offended and proceeds to give us his thoughts on yaoi

RPgod2 is declared new to the internet, because he did not expect slash in a video game fan community

Rpgod2 clarifies that it was not this *particular* work that offended him, just the idea of it.

Plus sundry other thoughts on yaoi.

ETA: There are also a few choice comments on the dA page of the art that inspired the fic.

I don't know why, but knowing that yaoi can still trigger OMG WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT??? rants in such an old series made me smile. Maybe because I like to see internet n00bs flail, especially since the fic in question is rated PG.

I hate to have to flame, but this shit is just so weird. I find it hard to believe that fans of Zelda would want to see two young Links making out, let alone read about it.

Reminds me, I need to work on ideas for Midna/Zelda (or Midna/Zelda/Link) fic. Or do more with genderqueer!Sheik/Link* other than one story in which Sheik is not even going into that as much as I had intended when I decided to start it.

* Which probably counts as 'het' in this person's book since I keep Sheik female-bodied.

huh. I'm pretty sure I got into internet fandom in the first place because I wanted to read and write (badly) about boys making out and I was obsessed with subtext in the books/anime/tv shows. That said, I was young and innocent, and occasionally stumbled across porn that inspired my friends and I to start and song-and-dance routine that had the lyrics of "soap, water, bleach." But we considered it an education into the ways of the internet and moved on.
