She's been glamoured too many times already. Who knows how much of her is left.
First True Blood wank!! *is excited*

Here I present you: midnight_charm's crazy shipping theories.

Bill proposed to Sookie at the end of season's finale, and somehow there must be something obscure and manipulative about it because Bill is a douchebag who rapes little girls and Eric is Just Misunderstood, right?

So in Did Bill propose to Sookie only because of Eric's crush"? arakha says:

But even in the bathroom, after [Sookie]'s tried on the ring and gone all smiley, there's another glimpse of doubt/ uncertainty and she smiles again, as if to convince herself that it's right, that it must be right, cos they love each other, right? She's even more innocent/ unsure of herself than book Sookie... But maybe I am reading too much into it.

Yeah I suffered through it again to try and make sense of Sookie's reaction, cos it just floored me the first couple of times.

to which midnight_charm responds:

This is why I think there is some sort of spell on the ring.

There has to be a reason for the lines between the [vampire] queen and Ludis [human pet]: she [goes] yahtzee's and he's say's "It's magic!" and the queen say's "I do not cheat". She doesn't deny being able to use magic! she only claims she doesn't use it to cheat.

Well of course! Sophie-Anne is a closeted witch involved in an EBOL plan with Voldemort Bill to mind-rape Sookie with an enchanted ring. How come we silly people didn't notice that before?

Later on, morrissa adds her thoughts on yaoi color symbolism:

The dress that Sookie receives from Bill is violet/purple, which symbolically, among other things, can refer to magic.

So called Purple Spells are used for commanding, dominating and compelling and "... are used to control darker forces. Unlike black spells, which invoke the dark forces, purple spells call on powerful spirits to manipulate those that may be working against you."

If this colour&spell thing is intentional (by Ball), then isolating Sookie on the restaurant (something I myself find more weird than romantic) may have a deeper, hidden purpose as well, besides the usual creepy controlling behaviour that has become a hallmark of Billy Sue's.

midnight_charm:

Wow morrissa, thank you for this very interesting information!

Some thoughts that may back up what you have written:

1-Bill's note was more in the form of a command moreso than a romantic invitation.

"I have owed you an evening out for some time.
I would very much like for you to wear this tonight
Bill"

Not "love" Bill, just "Bill". No sweet nothings or endearments of any kind.

See? You should always sign your love letters with "love", or else you're a manipulative evil jerk.

Does this not remind you of when Eric glamoured the FoTS guy? "I would very much like to borrow your stake".

No, it reminds me that old vampires speak that way.

It was a command in the form of a request. Like Bill was trying to influence her through the note. He never once asks her in the note if she will go out with him-- it was like a queen politely commanding one of her courtiers to make an appearance, and to wear the garment she has so thoughtfully provided. No thought as to whether she might not like her "Fairy Princess" style dress. That's not important.

2-In the bathroom, Sookie keeps staring at her diamond necklace in the mirror, and then she fiddles with it when she holds the ring up to her chest to look at. I think Eric may have sent her the necklace

CANON BACK-UP NEEDED.

--she seems very bittersweet and loving as she looks at it while the "Eric" music plays, but she still decides to say yes. The ring's spell may be one which seeks to "control" or "dominate" or override Eric's influence over Sookie, as well as compel her to say yes to the proposal.

3-Being alone in the restaurant forces her to focus solely on Bill, with no distractions of any kind. This was her opportunity to say yes of her own free will, but if she didn't there was always the enchanted ring to back him up.

I just don't even...

And finally(?), there's her theory about the bullet sucking scene. For the ones who don't watch the show, the Bullet Sucking Scene took place after our dear vamps were attacked by a terrorist wearing in a timebomb made entirely of silver. Eric moved in front of Sookie to protect her, the bomb exploded, and as soon as she got up he went, "OMG, I'M ~DYING~... Save me! Suck the bullets out of my chest". Sookie was like, "ewww" at first but eventually agreed to do it. And surprise surprise, it turned out to be a trick so Sookie would be sexually attracted to Eric through his blood and now they're ~bonded~ forever and ever.

*breathes*. Anyway, this is what midnight_charm has to say about that:

Now let me tell you what I think likely happened during the bullet sucking scene, based on what we know of the characters and the logic of the show: Eric doesn't have to tell Sookie anything. He probably doesn't say a word, or much. The silver bullets, as Rev. Newlin reminded Jason they would in an earlier episode, have incapacitated him. Sookie's no dummy and she gets exactly what happened. Eric vampired in front of her and took silver bullets to save her life. His big body covers her small one from head to toe and his body is most probably nestled between her spreadeagled legs. She gently helps the immobile Eric get off her, and after making sure Jason is ok, quickly and efficiently proceeds to do what she can for Eric. The Practical and non-squeemish Sookie strips off her borrowed trench coat, folds it up and puts it under his head. (I think she's wearing a slip under there) She is crying and distraught, but comforts him as best she can. She straddles his body to get better access and sucks the bullet out of his neck and spits it out.

But now she has gotten a taste of the blood that Lafayette found so intoxicating. She's breathless and aroused. She impatiently yanks the top of his shirt aside and greedily sucks at his nipple.

Hahahahaha. I'm sorry, this is just weird instead of sexy.

Opportunistic Eric's hands do not remain idle- he brings them up and caresses Sookie's body, further stoking her lust. She retrieves the bullet and spits it out but she can't stop herself from going back for more.

It doesn't work that fast, moron.

To see Sookie willingly and lustfully going back for more of his blood is explosively exciting to Eric and...perhaps...he orgasms, clutching her body tightly to his.

This, or something extremely similar, is what Bill finds when he comes back in-Sookie, nearly naked, straddling the hated Eric with her mouth on his nipple, his hands on her body, and in the throes of an obviously erotic experience.

Wait a fucking minute. How could they stripped naked in front of ALL THOSE PEOPLE? Sure, everyone thinks of happy sexy times when they've just been attacked by terrorists *rolls eyes*.

Like any good Viking caught in this situation, the look on Eric's face is wickedly triumphant, not smugly juvenile. What Bill sees cannot be misinterpreted. This is why almost everything we've seen in the sequence from his pov

You mean, the camera's POV?

is nearly the exact opposite of what really happened, what logically could have happened. Bill cannot tolerate the memory of such a devastating scene. His heart is broken and he must do whatever necessary to protect his sanity. He has created a delusion. He will deny what was in front of him for as long as possible.

OK, THAT'S IT, I QUIT HUMANITY. PEOPLE JUST CAN'T BE THAT STUPID, AAAGGGHH!!! *messes hair*

And this is why Sookie is not angry at Eric, even if he did trick her into sucking the bullets. I won't go into the rest of the scene involving the things the three of them said to each other, but keep in mind my 'opposite' interpretation of what happened, and rest assured the scene was in actuality passionately emotional--angry, accusatory, and proabably ultimately conciliatory toward Bill on Sookie's part-which of course would anger Eric. The asinine conversation that took place from Bill's pov after the bullet sucking is not believable in the least.

Yeah, because Sophie-Anne being a witch and Bill creating a paralel reality inside his head is totally believable.

ETA: I added some more explanations for our non-True Blood fans :). My additions to the quotes are in [].

We were taking bets over on the HMS STFU (informally, of course) as to when the True Blood wank would start. I personally didn't think it would be this quick! *is shocked*

*is now squinty at the True Blood fandom*

Based on the language used, I think this is the same person who posted the "Eric orgasmed" theory on the TB LJ community back when the episode aired. I remember an "uhhhh no" reaction then, too.

What.

Bill is kind of annoyingly overprotective, but somehow I don't think he has magical powers of control over people beyond the usual vampire glamour (he's not very old, for one thing), and we already know that Sookie is immune to that sort of thing, and it seems magic in general. Sookie is understandably has some doubts about marrying a guy who is immortal, and some doubts dredged up by sexy dream.

Also, WHAT.

Wait, wait, did she seriously just say that what happened in the scene after the bomber did not actually happen because she has an "opposite interpretation"</a>!!!!!!????

To be fair...Bill is a manipulative bastard.

I'm not touching the rest of the crazy, and no one can make me.

She sucked the bullet out? Like in Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid?

My tendency to read "Sookie" as "Snookie" makes this a lot more fun.

BRB LOLing forevers.

There's really nothing else I can add. As a fan of the show that's watched it from the very beginning...

BRB LOLing forevers.

"The asinine conversation that took place from Bill's pov after the bullet sucking is not believable in the least."

The complaint here is that the asinine conversation is not believable? But the bullet-sucking makes sense? I don't remember bullet-sucking in the books. Score one for the author.

I don't suppose it's worth asking if they tried throwing the ring into a fire and seeing if any Elvish runes appeared.

*takes notes* It's like I'm sitting in Harmonian Logic 101, vampire edition again.

This may be because I know less than nothing about True Blood...but I read through most of this and STILL don't see how one girl being a witch and one guy (Bill? The guy threatening the ship they prefer?) being in a parallel reality is supposed to make Eric/Sookie any more plausible.
