This link was emailed to me this evening. I must say, though it's not fandom, it's some damn good animal rights wank, which is usually at least as amusing.

Eleven pages and counting.

You know, I wonder if this isn't some sort of troll, much like how I was suggesting emailing PETA about every animal I had for a meal. But if not, I can understand about this, even if it's definitely an "out there" way of dealing with grief. It's not something I'd really care to do, myself... kinda gives me the creepies... but I also see how it could be, in a way, beautiful.

Good lord, someone even brought 9-11 into it. I bet if I red through all of it, I could find Nazis, that Claire chick everyone's always talking about, and... well, I won't say it, because I think people here harp too much on the fandom that's about a certain young wizard. n.n;;

Okay, posting yet AGAIN (sorry... I promise not to until someone else does n.n;; Just that the wank takes a little while to sink in!).
I think THIS thread has to be the best: http://www.livejournal.com/users/siamang/43717.html?thread=7621 I mean, it's got a little of everything that this wank has to offer. Wishing death on people, "lol" punctuation, all that good stuff.

You know, I love animals, and was actually disturbed by reading that, but from the responses you'd think that person had posted a picture of their grandmother basted and with an apple in her mouth.

Although, upon looking at the picture of the finished meal, the "bunny" seems to have chicken wings...so I'm pretty convinced that isn't actually their dearly departed Grendle they munched on.

Linzee, newly delurking, btw. :-)

Especially when one takes in the copious amount of meat that was supposed to have been on that bunny. I mean, what was it? The Nuclear Bunny of Doom?

Perhaps they were fattening him up for eating all along. I smell a conspiracy. *g*

Mmm, Nuclear Bunnies of Doom - they taste like chicken!

Holy shit... ELEVEN PAGES?! That's a bit much even for ME, yo! x_x

The "Man, I hope you don't join my soccer team just before we fly somewhere" comment cracked me up, though...

I'm also amused by the other person on the first page going "EWW you ate a BUNNY," as if rabbit stew was an uncommon dish in Western society. I'll bet these are the same type of people that would call up Joey Skaggs in reaction to his dog soup hoax and leave insults (including racial slurs).

Troll or not, this is trully classic, classic wank.

I've had bear before, it was really greasy and disgusting. Suppose they hate me for eating the cute woodland creatures?

My mother also owns a ranch outfitter/dairy farm. I've had Daisy for dinner on multiple occassions, and damn, was she good.

Considering all the additives and preservatives that most of us eat, I'm willing to bet that human flesh would be quite salty.

Which isn't necessarily bad. Especially if you're in a situation in which human flesh is basically the only thing that can be eaten anyway.

I can't help but remember the time I was talking with someone about food I like to eat and I made a comment about how it's been a while since I had duck. She promptly got horrified that I like to eat "cute, fluffy" ducks, and that (when I mentioned it) my oldest brother likes to eat "cute, fluffy" lambs. If you say so, girl.

My whole take on it is pretty much summed up by this post. I mean, I understand thinking it's wrong to KILL an animal...but how is it wrong to eat it once it's dead of natural causes? And these folks seem to think that it's WORSE to eat an animal you cared for that's died naturally than to kill livestock assembly-line style and sell them in shrink-wrap at Wal-Mart.

I also love how every. single. person. says "So would you eat your dead family?" and/or "It's just like hamburgers at McDonald's."

The fact that bunny's name was Grendel has me chuckling quite a bit with the image of a very Old English style funeral pyre for the ickle bunner. Now only if we had a dragon and some treasure! [/major lit geeking]

I read that. I liked it. But to this day, all I can think of when I see the name Grendel is the video our anime club made where we were making fun of someone by 'singing their praises', and one guy decided to claim that Jesse (the guy we were mocking) ripped off Grendel's arm and beat him with it.

I'm now picturing Jesse ripping off this bunny's arm and beating him with it. :S

I am 15-20 years younger than my older siblings, and I've always been spoiled. However, when my parents were young and with 3 small children, they didn't have much money. So, when the pet bunny died, mother cooked it. She said that no one really had an appetite, but it was eatable and didn't cost anything. I was horrified when I found out, but I guess it isn't that much different for people who are used to hunting animals and making food of them. *shrug*

So, although that definitely looks like a troll, some people may actually eat their pets. As disgusting as it sounds...

Hmm...I went through a few old entries on her LJ, and read her user info, and it doesn't seem particularly trollish. Sounds like someone not familiar enough with LJ to know better than to publicly post something like this, rather than friends-locking it. As to the issue itself, it doesn't particularly disgust me. I understand where she's coming from, maybe because my mindset tends more to the tribal/aboriginal. Everything comes full circle, etc. I certainly don't think she deserves the treatment she's received. Yikes.

Agreed, there are several cultures in which the eating would be a completely rational and normal response. I think it's a bit odd, but certainly no moral outrage. O_o;

Still something like that is mostly likely gonna end up pissing a LOT of people off. I can understand wanting to talk about a beloved pet's death, but cooking, eating it and then posting pictures? Come on, it's not a criminal offense but it IS in very, very bad taste.

Somehow I think it's those photos that really sealed the deal on this wank. So you wanna eat your dead rabbit? Ooookay, but do we need to see the photographic evidence? This ain't Iron Chef, ya know.

Your death of course will sadden me
Until I grok your essence
I know your life was not in vain
When digestion is commencing
Consider this a celebration
And the deepest pact of friends
And I hope that you will dine on me
When I come to an end...
