Entry tags:fandom_wank's thoughts on yaoi, movie wank, pixar, reviews, someone is wrong on the internet!, stop sharing your thoughts, writers are often pompous douches

Wank machine keeps on rollin'
1. Pixar makes incredible, mind-blowing third movie in Toy Story series.
2. Rotten Tomatoes logs over 130 reviews - all positive.
3. Toy Story 3 gets it's first (so far, only) bad reviews.
4. Internet explodes. (Also here.)

The wank seems to be focused on Armond White's review, as he is known for seemingly giving any review that goes against the general consenus. (He inexplicably seems in favour of Transformers 2, for instance.) He also doesn't appear to have actually watched the movie (identifying Hamm as a villain.) His negative review was actually predicted by a number of commenters in this earlier article, asking readers to predict where Toy Story 3 would end up on the Tomatometer rating.

It's all very dramatic, with wank in every corner. But of course, the most important Toy Story-related argument is and always will always be: Buzz/Jessie or Woody/Jessie?*

*Anyone's who's seen the movie will know the right answer to this.

I just got back from watching Toy Story 3 and I loved it! Also, the answer is obviously Buzz/Woody. Duh!

OMG I just got back from seeing it too. I had to wait to read this wank until I could see it.

Buzz/Woody is great, but I'm shipping Jesse/Barbie so hard now. Two kick-ass ladies being kick-ass together. Unf.

I see no reason to choose when Buzz/Woody/Jessie seems to be the obvious answer.

>1. Pixar makes incredible, mind-blowing third movie in Toy Story series.

This sentence is entirely superfluous. It's a Pixar movie; the worst they've ever done in critical consensus is "Good".

>2. Rotten Tomatoes logs over 130 reviews - all positive.

Five days. I have to wait five frakking days.

Sorry to be the killjoy guys, but the only reaction I can summon from this news is disappointment that the Internet has finally given Armond White all the fame and attention he never deserved in the first place.

Armond, you can go jump off a bridge for all I care. Only you would interpret from this movie that the filmmakers were trying to promote a new assembly line of toys. Go suck your mom's tits.

Takes this as an opportunity to ramble on about Pixar

I am fond of (some of) Pixar's works. Not all, just some. Toy Story 1 and 2 aren't included in my favorites. (Maybe 3 will change my mind about the series).

So yeah, I do not quite get the outrage of these Toy Story fans though if this was about Up, I'd get their outrage. It got 98%. (A pox on those five critics who rated it rotten!!!)

Even Up's included short (the one about clouds and storks) gets me into "over-protective fan" mode.

You know, the only way that movie could have been more epic is if there was an Optimus Prime toy voiced by Peter Cullen in there.

Oh god, now I want to write a Toy Story/Transformers Toy Franchise crossover.

Personally, I would like to go to a Pixar movie and not cry by the end of it. WALL-E, Up, Toy Story 3, even Monster's Inc. I always have to stash tissues in my pockets.

Toy Story 3 was awesome. It was with feelings of both glee and embarrassment that I left the theater wanting fan fiction. I almost cried several times throughout, and I really felt that everything was perfect in it...so I totally understand other people being indignant over a bad review.

Of course, I think the underlying reason for the mass outrage is that this is the Internet; the masses so rarely agree on something, but when they do...you are screwed.

I'm surprised that nobody's pointed out that one of the negative reviewers, Cole Smithey, is the older half-brother of the infamous Chris-chan.

I have no idea why that coincidence weirds me out, but it does.

Saw it last night finally. I almost cried in front of my boyfriend (he likes to tease me when I cry at the movies ;;) but, even though he didn't like Toy Story at all, he even liked it!

All I can say is. ... Can I have my Barbies back? ♥♥
