Does everyone know what time it is?
IT'S WHO TIME!!! This report was shamelessly snagged from [info]wank_report. *throws cheese to mousie* I thought it was time for some more author rage. Enjoy!

FYI: I have screencaps of most of this so let me know if anything goes 'missing'.

Author Paul Magrs (as in published, hired-for-money author of real books, thank you) gets the cruelest most entitled review ever written in the history of all humanity. http://unreality-sf.net/reviews/doctorwho/2/findreplace.html

Naturally, Magrs expresses outrage on Twitter. As published authors should always do. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/26729418277 After all, how many books has that guy written? http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/26730575254 How many have YOU?

The author of review apologizes. http://brendan-moody.livejournal.com/317662.html

Too late, buddy. Magrs still has chafed butt. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/27030688395 You see, Magrs loves fan dialogues with real fans, but not mean ones. Why can't you be civil like him. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs

Others weigh in.

Magrs continues to miss the point of reviewers

It kind of rubs me the wrong way that the reviewer actually goes and apologizes for his review. It's a review not a press release, and as such it should say the truth and not try to not hurt the authors feelings.

Word up. God, it was the nicest way for a review to say, "This one didn't do it for me" that I've ever seen.

I hate that, too. Stand by your convictions, reviewer!

That was my thought too. Your opinions are your opinions, dude. Stand by them.

Seriously. If the review had attacked the author personally instead of the work, then sure, apologize. But "attack" is even too strong for his criticism of the work. Have a little backbone.

Yes! And I say this as someone who received death threats for the mean things I said about Martin Van Buren (not from ex-President Van Buren himself, seeing as he died in 1862, but from a devoted fan) in a review.

NEVER APOLOGIZE ALMOST NEVER EXPLAIN is my motto.

What.

People sure devoted to their long-dead presidents. I'm sorry that happened to you, though. It can't have been pleasant.

To be honest, I wasn't actually that concerned because the guy seemed not so organized, also LOTS OF CAPSLOCK which doesn't generally correlate so well with the ability to make plans and carry them out.

Psshh. Van Buren had it coming. He knows what he did.

*Knows next to nothing about President Van Buren, but believes in Wanka Solidarity*

Nothing as bad as a death threat, but an author once told me, in response to a mildly critical 300-word review of her book, that I needed to go on a spiritual retreat. I think that was code for "You just sit in the corner and think about what you've done, missy!"

I didn't do either, needless to say.

Well, he didn't, really. He said "I'm sorry you were hurt" which is a classy/passive-aggressive way of saying "I'm sorry you're such a baby."
