Does everyone know what time it is?
IT'S WHO TIME!!! This report was shamelessly snagged from [info]wank_report. *throws cheese to mousie* I thought it was time for some more author rage. Enjoy!

FYI: I have screencaps of most of this so let me know if anything goes 'missing'.

Author Paul Magrs (as in published, hired-for-money author of real books, thank you) gets the cruelest most entitled review ever written in the history of all humanity. http://unreality-sf.net/reviews/doctorwho/2/findreplace.html

Naturally, Magrs expresses outrage on Twitter. As published authors should always do. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/26729418277 After all, how many books has that guy written? http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/26730575254 How many have YOU?

The author of review apologizes. http://brendan-moody.livejournal.com/317662.html

Too late, buddy. Magrs still has chafed butt. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs/status/27030688395 You see, Magrs loves fan dialogues with real fans, but not mean ones. Why can't you be civil like him. http://twitter.com/paulmagrs

Others weigh in.

This report is brought to you by Doctor Who fandom: wanking since 1963.

EDIT: Comments of interest-
http://nwhyte.livejournal.com/1550164.html?thread=6531924#t6531924
Magrs continues to miss the point of reviewers

I was getting this odd, Fanfiction Rants vibe, so I looked up who Iris Wildthyme is supposed to be.

Then I realized why.

Main series character gets equivalent parallel character.
Adventures parallel the original adventures, but better.
Really her adventures are more true than the original character's.
You ought to love her far more than the original character.
She even has a fancy name.
Unusual companions - more so than the original character's.
Eventually she's better than anything from the original stuff.

*sigh*

Her wikipedia page is so painfully hilarious.

"She is known to have survived the destruction of Gallifrey and the apparent retroactive wiping of the Time Lords from history that took place at the end of the novel The Ancestor Cell."

Of course.

"Iris regenerates at the end of The Scarlet Empress (into a form resembling Jane Fonda in Barbarella)"

Uh-huh.

"some have suggested that it is the Doctor's adventures that are plagiarised from Iris's life, rather than the other way around."

Sounds like somebody edited their own page.

I wonder who the "some" are of that final quote. Mr. Sock and Ms. Puppet?

Random thought:

If Mr. Sock and Ms. Puppet married, would they hyphenate their name?

Mr. and Mrs. Sock-Puppet of Frothyshire!

So Iris is a published Mary Sue?

No, they would call themselves "Soque-Poupet".

Of course, telling him he's writing a quasi-canon Mary Sue will just sail right over his head.

just like with regular words, he should look them up in the fandom dictionary, one at a time. Oh wait, first we have to explain what a dictionary is...

All I know about Iris is that she's currently Katy Manning in a spiffy-looking hat.

the phrase "some have suggested" violates the admonishment against "weasel word" phrases in wikipedia.

I know, why start being sensible now, but just thought I'd mention it. In case, you know, an actual writer wrote that. Or something.

So only one question remains-- should she be sorted into Sparklypoo or Bitchiwitch?

Well obviously she'd be sorted into... BOTH. At the same time, 'cause she's just that awesome.

Wait--there were epic fannish explosions over Rose's purported Sueness but this is the first time I've heard of Iris McSparkleface?

And yet, the author seems to take her entirely (too) seriously.
Or is this more of the infamous so-dry-and-deadpan-you-can't-ever-tell brand of British humour?

Seconded! If you're not okay with OTT and cracky, why are you in Who fandom?

Plus, that one fic where she's the obnoxious n00b on the Renegade Time Lords mailing list made me laugh uncontrollably, so I'm kind of fond of her just for that.

I'll bet Iris Wildthyme got turned into a Tinkerbell Jesus Dobby TimeLord, too, except she was pink and had fairy wings, and also she had an awesome hat and she actually did stuff! SO THERE DOCTOR SHE IS TOTALLY BETTER THAN YOU OMG!

And then the Master fell in love with her and she saved him from dying, but then he proposed and she rejected him and he killed himself. Again. IT WAS SO SAD POOR IRIS! :(

[info]evilsqueakers

No no! Not pink. OMG. Don't you know anything?? She had rainbow colors. Because she was that awesome! Sheesh! Bringing light and happiness and harmony wherever she went.

Poor Simms!Master. First his wife shoots him and then Iris rejects him. Wait, wait! I know! That wasn't really his wife killed. It was Iris pretending because she already knows the outcome and zomg, she can't let an innocent woman die when she can just regen.

....my brain hurts now. A lot. A real lot. Ow.

I really want to see a flame war on this stuff. That the character came from his unpublished novel makes it so much worse.
