Harry and Hermione had a scene together without Ron! TRUE LOVE.
Moved from [info]clairvoyantwank.

Please note that there are minor spoilers for HP7 Part 1 in the links below. This would be the start of the Harmonian fapping from That Scene we've all been talking about and waiting for in the past few weeks.

Silly wankas, you thought Harmony was over.

From the article itself:
" In truth, I think Harry’s pregnant pause was so brief, some moviegoers may have missed the connotation and thought that Hermione walked away because she’d simply thought about Ron again and snapped back to reality [...] Being someone who always sort of wanted Harry and Hermione together, part of me wishes that moment had been longer and more tension-filled [...] She, and we, understood that Harry started out trying to comfort her with some silly dancing, and then ended up comforting himself when it felt good to hold someone and be held."

Comments!

RaivynSkye
Harry already has a “light”: Jenny. The fact that they need to change his relationship with Hermione just points out how badly they depicted the Harry/Jenny relationship. (While not really wanky, this made me laugh, so I had to point it out.)

Michelle
I’ve always been a H/HR fan. ALWAYS.
But I also enjoy and respect R/HR. As Harmony shippers, we get a lot of crap. But let me just say, this dance wasn’t unrealistic. It was PERFECT for the scene. Anyone who says differently, just has a bias who hates H/HR.

Michelle
JK Rowling SAID that it ‘COULD HAVE GONE THAT WAY’.
Therefore, anyone with a brain, realizes that it could have happened. It didnt. So haters, stay pressed. Ron and Hermione end up together in the end anyway. Stop complaining.

Stacey
I am still a Harry and Hermione shipper even though I know it’s foolish to hope for the movie to change the ending… It ain’t happening so I ain’t expecting it. But that dance at least from Harry’s prospective was not about friendship at all.. It can be argued Hermione missed Ron and was thinking of him. But the way they interacted; it wasn’t about friendship. And they were this close to kissing… Any other movie they would have… In my mind Harry is settling for Ginny because he can’t have Hermione without destroying friendships that are very dear with him so he’s not rocking the boat… But that is just me. My opinion.

And so on and so on.

MTV wants to know if the Good Ship Pumpkin Pie can still sail.

There are screams of "THIS. IS. NOT. TWILIGHT." and "DELUSIONAL" from R/Hr shippers to every Harmony comment. Comments are also being rapidly deleted by the MTV website as shippers start flagging each other over fictional OTPs. There were some hilarious R/Hr comments and comments from the supposed "sane middle ground" (Martin and Jordan) that were bahleeted before I could c&p. :(

willow
Ron and Hermione own my soul. But as for the poll, people that thought Harry and Hermione would have or should have ended up "together" are going to lead very boring love lives.

Alli
You know, for people so confident and secure in their ship, you really go **** as soon as someone even hints at the possibility of Harry and Hermione as a romantic couple. I mean, you won. Your couple was endgame. Why do you care if someone would have preferred Harry and Hermione to be together? It's really all about ship preference, and what you see as a desirable relationship. And really, you're not even defending your ship but just dismissing anyone who disagrees with you as delusional idiots who can't read. Just because someone has a different interpretation of a book, doesn't mean they're wrong. There are entire lit. classes that sole purpose are to break down literature and interpret it in your own way. And if Rowling wants her books to stand the test of time, then she should probably get used to people taking away different experiences and having different perceptions of what she writes. I guess my main point is that it really isn't your place to tell someone what opinion to have or that their opinion is wrong.

Danny
I have fed up with all that nonsense that there is something between Harry and Hermione. Do not they understand that it is Ron and Hermione? That outrageous to think a little. RON AND HERMIONE FOREVER AND FOREVER!

Sonia
First, I WANT TO HARRY END UP WITH HERMIONE FROM THE START. THANKS. Now, I want to say many things: I see that exist an important abundance of R/H shippers and honestly those commentaries kind of "wars of ships" are so freaking old, in fact, get over it. The H/Hr exists, more deny more present is. You can think that it's like incest or whatever, you can say that Harmony doesn't exist and the truth is WE exist, we're here and only seems to me it's prentend that we didn't exist. But it doesn't matter, thus we are well. We, the Harmony (Pumpkin shippers, H/Hr), are happy. What gives more that ours ship didn't write JKR? What matters if it makes a couple of years ago we were attack while the six book? Well, we have news: we exist and we are happy. Because after those times (and if you have more than 5 years in fandom, you know what I'm talking about) we, the Harmonys, remained with the best thing: the FANDOM. We remained with the beautiful possibilities of creating what we wanted, as we wanted and how much we wanted. However, and in truth I don't say it to do bashing, you remained with the JKR canon. A boring canon and without chances to be developed, no longer can create something totally free because there will be some that they reproach to them that do not follow the canon and honestly, perhaps it wasn't boring with "and all lived happy ever after"? So as Harmony I request a favor to all of you, get over us or forget us, mature and keep to yourself with the canon. You already know that Ron married with Hermione and Harry with Ginny. And what? A poll will not break or will return anything that was written, you have to be free and happy. Breathe and leave us breathe too.

Veeta
Leave this sort of crap to twilight. Harry Potter is about the FRIENDSHIP between these three people. Ron and Hermoine are perfect together, so are Harry and Ginny. REAL fans of the book like it the way it is...only silly kids who have never read the books and only watched the movies think Hermoine and Harry should end up together. That would be like INCEST yuck!

This is the wank that never ends...yes it goes on and on my friends! Some people started shipping it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue shipping it forever just because...

I'm still confuddled by the phrase stay pressed. Are "haters" supposed to be the iron or the starch?

Jenny? What's the Doctor's daughter got to do with anything?

(eventually I figured out they meant Ginny, but it definitely took a bit)

REAL fans of the book like it the way it is...

Well, that eliminates, uh, almost every fan of anything I've ever met, even if we count for "it could've been better if they'd done this, but overall it worked out anyway" as "liking it the way it is".

Oh, this is just silly. I don't even get why anyone cares what happened in the movie. They're fun, and fine, you can love that Movie!Harry and Movie!Hermione had that scene. The book characters are different, and R/Hr is still going to happen in the movieverse, and what happened in the books won't change.

I found the H/Hr stuff a bit annoying since I know it comes from Steve Kloves and his shipping preferences, which he shouldn't project all over an adaption of someone else's work- especially since it was sort of a detriment to the characters (Harry not comforting Ron after the Horcrux scene is just...wrong. That's what bothered me the most. I love those two, and wanted to see Harry assure Ron his fears were unfounded. :()... but all I am is vaguely annoyed- it's not going to change what happened in the books, for either type of shipper.

But in the meantime, I guess we get to enjoy watching them squabble. Popcorn!

Harry/Luna OTP!

2010-11-23 01:52 am UTC (link)
>Just because someone has a different interpretation of a book, doesn't mean they're wrong.

Sometimes they are, especially if they run counter to the express statements of the author themselves. Sometimes the author doesn't do a good enough job. And sometimes it was the fans who got the wrong end of the stick and refused to admit it.

>There are entire lit. classes that sole purpose are to break down literature and interpret it in your own way.

And there are other classes that consider Death of the Author to be pretentious twaddle. And their are other classes that teach waste management. There are a lot of classes in the world.

>And if Rowling wants her books to stand the test of time, then she should probably get used to people taking away different experiences and having different perceptions of what she writes.

Yeah, it's not like there's been a long-running controversy over alleged Satanic material in the books. A controversy so long-running that lots of kids who weren't even born when it started can read the books without assistance.

...huh?

So that scene couldn't possibly have been Harry being a nice guy and trying to comfort his friend. No, it had to be romantic. And that's totally why he and Ginny were all over each other right before the wedding and Ginny looked like she wanted to kill George for interrupting them. Totally.

Things like this make me glad I don't 'ship anything specific in this fandom. I like not being delusional.

Haven't read the books, have no desire to. I have no investment in this ship. But I've watched the movies (except the latest one) and I thought that Harry and Hermione had more onsreen chemistry then Hermione and Ron (who came across as siblings) or Harry or Ginny (with the actress playing Ginny being quite bad and awkward).

But either way, no investment in ship - but I can see why people could see Harry/Hermione if they only watched the films.

So if your ship wins, do you, like, get cake?

Because I could see this constant angry twaddle if there was cake at the end.

During the evil!HarryxHermione scene, I was trying not to grin because I knew how many a HP shipper would (over)react to it. I confess I felt envious of my family and friends who are unaware of shipping.

The biggest reaction from the theater (I was in) was during the Harry and Hermione's dance. People were laughing though, not OOOHing and AAAHing, which they did during the Harry and Ginny's ?almost? kiss. Sorry, can't remember if they actually kissed. I was too distracted by George or Fred.

The audience was also OOOHing and AAAHing during the romantic!RonxHermione scenes BEFORE Ron got separated from the trio. After Ron came back, I didn't hear any more OOOHs and AAAHs during his scenes with Hermione so I guess people got confused about who would end up with who.

Can someone please explain to me why Kloves removed the "she's like a sister" scene? I know he's a shipper, but come on, that was a really dramatic, great scene. It would have been great in the movie.

I'm not a hardcore Harry Potter shipper at all and I don't really care who ends up with whom, but I am a stickler for canon. I just can't imagine H/Hr working IRL. This (somewhat outdated) essay explains why: http://www.hp-lexicon.org/essays/essay-hh-suited.html

YESSSSS.

I have essays to write and beautiful HP wank to read while I do so! Clearly God does love me after all.

(Ahahahahahahahah oh God and I thought the Mornington Crescent games being played in my LJ were distraction enough.)

I was more bothered that they cut the Dursley's scene.
But we got bonus Neville, so all was forgiven.

HP Harmonians wank? But but but, how can it be Christmas, it's not even Thanksgiving yet!

"THIS. IS. NOT. TWILIGHT."
What do they mean it's not Twilight? Isn't this whole wank boiling down to a flimsy love triangle where there isn't really a love triangle? How much MORE Twilight could it get?
