Uh... it's a newspaper comic strip. It was always "mainstream". Unless this guy means the merchandising gamut during the 1980s, in which case he should really be a bit clearer with what he means.

Remember when "Garfield" used to have stuff like story arcs and character development and actual funny jokes? Remember when it was actually Jim Davis drawing the strip, and not his millions of trained drones?

Wow. That's just surreal. I was a big Garfield fan when I was little, mostly because I loved anything to do with cats. And I do dimly remember the strip being funny once upon a time. But even then, it doesn't seem like it'd make a very good movie, particularly not live-action.

Besides, Jennifer Love Hewitt? WTF? I assume she's playing the veterinarian chick (can't remember the name offhand... was it Liz or something?). Just... wrong. Seems like the kind of movie I'd go see (or at least rent) just to see how much of a trainwreck it'll be, though.

Man, this saddens me- I love Garfield. He was like... the biggest cartoon/comic character icon to my little 6 year old self. Right up there with Rainbow Brite, oddly enough. Live action Garfield... I cringed at the thought of live action Scooby Doo to be honest, and I wasn't that big of a Scooby Doo fan. My childhood is being defiled more and more. XD ::looks at the remake of He-man, Transformers, etc...::

...I know I'll be watching this movie anyway. XD

	I'm still trying to deal with the fact that they're making a LIVE ACTION Garfield movie. WTF? I mean what's next, live action Thundercats, Snorks, SMURFS? Are they going to bring the Smurfs back?
