[info]angstgoddess003 and snowqueensicedragon are Twilight BNF's.

Being a BNF isn't enough for a special snowflake like snowqueensicedragon so she decides to vanity publish her fanfic, "Master of the Universe." [info]angstgoddess003 thinks this is a bad idea but snowqueensicedragon won't listen. The two BNFs exchange instant messages where snowqueensicedragon:
(1) whines about how Twilight fandom is beneath her
(2) bitches about doing charity work
(3) claims she wants to publish her fanfic to maintain her fabulous lifestyle
(4) makes disparaging comments about [info]angstgoddess003's economic status
[info]angstgoddess003 then decides it would be a great idea to tweet excerpts of those chat logs. snowqueensicedragon freaks and for some reason, poses the complete chat logs because she thinks that will make her look better. Somehow.

The owner/mod of an anti-Twilight community, [info]jennday, traces [info]angstgoddess003's IP and not only outs [info]angstgoddess003 as the tweeter but also posts [info]angstgoddess003's real name, address, place of employment, phone number etc.

[info]angstgoddess003 was harassed through Twitter and claims that she has received rude phone calls at work.

Meanwhile, a former friend of [info]jennday muses on twitter about outing [info]jennday's personal info. [info]jennday responds by sending that person a cease and desist letter.

[info]angstgoddess003 deletes her Twitter.

Before angstgoddess tweeted those excerpts, about a week ago, she went over to f_fa and discussed her intent to out the icky bitchy condescending entitlement of a much-worshipped BNF in her fandom. She was planning to leave the fandom in any event and wanted to go out with a bang. Largely because, she said, the fandom deserves better than to be used for money by someone who has no respect for her own fanbase there.

"Hm," said f_fa. "Know what? Go for it, but screencap everything and link it 'cause this is gonna be good."

And lo, it was.

So the deletion was planned. If one believes what she's saying (I do, but your mileage may vary), she's not looking back and not following any of the fallout beyond whatever she might be told secondhand.

I've never been part of Twilight fandom or hatedom, so I have no dog in this fight, but I have to give angstgoddess points for style, so far.

No, she was outed as a member of the anon Twankhard blog. It seems like the Twitter was pretty obviously hers.

I reread and actually, [info]jennday hates Twilight and but was a former mod of a community that reviews Twilight fanfic. The community isn't fond of [info]angstgoddess003 or snowqueensicedragon, though, and the feeling is probably mutual.

And [info]angstgoddess003 was actually outed about being part of Twankard, a WordPress blog/anonmeme about wanky Twilight fans that had a lot of caustic things to say about HIH snowqueensicedragon, among others.

Also, [info]angstgoddess003 apparently tweeted chat excerpts of snowqueensicedragon acting like a douche so she ([info]angstgoddess003) could leave Twilight fandom in in a blaze of glory. I don't think she planned to have her personal info exposed to world, but you know what they say about the best laid plans of mice and men.

How did tracing an IP get them her personal info to the extent where it showed her place of work? *Confused*

Probably has something to do with her being a professional web designer, and some of the info coming from a whois lookup. I'm guessing her place of employment was linked on her personal web site, or something.

If a business buys a range of static IP addresses and someone uses a work computer, then you can probably use whois to figure out the business from the IP address.

I assume since they had her IP which also gave her city, and her full name from the interview, they were able to tie the two together by searching LinkedIn.

That's a lot of cyber stalking D:
