Queer as Folk fandom is alive and strong (when there's wank involved). As with most television fandoms, once a show is over and finished, there are people from fandom who move on. It's much like having a gift that you love for several years but you have to return it after that set period of years. You return all the Good Fic, all the fun show discussions and conversations, and wonderful graphics. After the show, several years after the show, fandom becomes extremely watered down into Bad Fic, discussions that are repetitive, and more bad graphics than good graphics. Subject: Quality fiction She wanted to stop reading crappy fic. Now, what could possibly go wrong? Many, many, many, many, many people agreed that the quality of fiction has gone down considerably over the years and all anyone will ever see is badfic. She continues to argue: Screenshot 1 - She didn't have a beta for her story and many, many people loved it because she wrote it from her heart. *cue violins* Screenshot 2 - Only professional editors are allowed to criticize fanfic. People use logic to explain why fans think there's so much badfic around: Screenshot 3 - It was a nice attempt by the person she was arguing with. Screenshot 4 - Mod interference with examples. Screenshot 5 - There's nothing wrong with someone posting their art! Screenshot 6 - People will judge writing whether petulant2u likes it or not. Another mod comes along with good advice here, here, and here. Screenshot 7 - pet thinks this thread is God awful. Screenshot 8 - Long-time QaF writer has opinion about this. Screenshot 9 - pet is shocked, SHOCKED that long-time fan has opposing opinion. Screenshot 10 Screenshot 11 Screenshot 12 Screenshot 13 This fandom doesn't like it when people use character nicknames incorrectly! Surprise, surprise, Screenshot 14 Screenshot 15 - Nicknames are used often, according to her. Screenshot 16 - Despite the canon explanation, She fights with the mod and this can't end well: Screenshot 17 - Mod is in poor taste, says pet. Screenshot 18 - IT'S STILL ART. Screenshot 19 - Um, pet doesn't understand what journal titles are (at the bottom of this screenshot). Screenshot 20 - Still doesn't understand journal titles. Screenshot 21 - Mod explains but show of hands that she still doesn't get it, *hands* Screenshot 22 - pet was born on the lower east side! She doesn't back down from fights. Screenshot 23 - Free speech! Free speech! Attica! Screenshot 24 - No one will beta for pet. Well, maybe one day when she writes a manuscript and someone edits it professionally! You'd think that it'd end there but it didn't. People were fighting and arguing and would continue to do so until this, the last comment in the shot. That's a mod and up until now, everything's been about badfic. Then, shit got personal: To Yikes. Mods covered their asses and quickly deleted all comments that were irrelevant to the thread topic. That was really the calm before the storm. Original post - only one comment deletion, yay! Original poster says: What could go wrong, I ask? petulant2u thinks that asking for bad!fic is the beginning of a troll war. galeandrandy has an interesting perspective on bad!fic but And so it begins.... She tries to delete her comment in the thread but that's what we have the copy and paste function for: How about this, those authors who don't mind being on a badfic or crapfic list or feel humiliated or 'slapped' in the face, (as Rory feels when she reads something she feels wasn't written with love) can stay on those lists and those authors who feel slighted by being on one of those petty lists can start their own lists of worst commentors and reviews. I think it would be very entertaining. Kind of like a 'who's who's' of most rudest people in community. AUTHORS HAVE CRIED AND LEFT FANDOM FOR BEING ON THOSE TYPES OF LISTS! CRIED, I SAY! She is thicker skinned and can take criticism. And this is really where it begins. Quotable quotes from the thread: SHUT UP, IT'S ART! Now someone is suppose to direct them to such a fic? Publicly? Maybe I'm wrong. What is the definition of a troll? I'm sorry that you don't understand sarcasm -- says pet. What do you mean pet's being negative? People have a right to ask for what they want. Does pet think so? First I'm not saying what anyone should or should not do. I never did. I was merely stating my opinion that it is in poor taste to label someone's work as 'badfic'. My opinion. Period. People can obviously say and do as they want. I said I found 'badfic' list in poor taste. Again, my opinion. I never called for a ban labeling or on lists, or on people who make them... this is merely my opinion. Wait, I missed it. Is this her opinion? Mod tells her to GET THE FUCK OUT (verbatim) but she still doesn't really get it. She is banned from the community. Every single post that follows argues for or against People argue with her in her journal and she feels persecuted! She says it's her journal and that people "should at least knock" even though she's keeping every single one of these posts open for viewing. She's attempted to delete some of the argumentative comments (feel free to post screenshots!). As a result of all of this wank, somehow She wants the mods to take down her post so that she can alter history and pretend that none of it happened. Um, sorry. Wank doesn't work that way. It gets saved and posted on Summary: badfic is badfic and not art, Edit: Screenshots to her Twitter and locked posts to come! [Picture removed. Irrelevant to wank.] Post a comment in response: |
