A Doctor Who Wank Nugget
Blogtor Who, as you may have guessed, is a Doctor Who fan blog. Tom MacRae is an occasional writer for Doctor Who, including next week's episode, The Girl Who Waited.

It's been a somewhat long-standing tradition for Blogtor Who to post teasers and out-of-context quotes to upcoming episodes on Cult Box, gleaned from the BBC press screenings. This week being no different, Blogtor goes about its merry way posting 10 quotes and 10 teasers from next week's episode.

Meanwhile, Tom MacRae - in a flurry of Twitter self-promotion- asks if everyone enjoyed the new trailer. Blogtor responds in the positive, and links Tom to the aformentioned teasers. Tom is not amused.

With little warning, Blogtor suddenly decides they are closing down shop, both on the blog and on Twitter. Commenters on the blog suspect this has something to do with Tom MacRae. Many lament. Some call the author of Blogtor a child. Others call Tom Macrae an arrogant sod. A day later, Tom MacRae continues to defend himself on Twitter, while Blogtor remains silent.

Not what you'd call a wanksplosion, but a tasty little nugget o' wank to spice up your weekend and perhaps keep an eye on over the next few days.

So he gets the slightest of smacks on twitter (MacRae's comments didn't really seem rude or out of line to me at all) and decides to stop his site entirely? Wow, that's some good petulant attention whoring right there.

I think he probably overreacted a bit, though I can understand if he's totally doing the shame shutdown -- "Oh god I am so embarrassed," et cetera.

That said, he's been blogging since 2008? I'm surprised that him blogging the teasers would be... well, a surprise. I don't know how big the blog is, but if these were genuine, holy-crap-shut-it-down secrets, I'd except it'd've cause waves before now, wouldn't it?

(Did I just reveal how little I understand the entertainment industry?)

Somebody just posted Rory/Hitler NC-17 fic on one of the Who lj comms, so it could be an interesting weekend for Whovian wank.

I'm not surprised it got posted in the anon-kink meme, I'm kinda surprised it was reposted in one of the main dw comms

That should not have shocked me the way it did.

However, it's potential wank that starts Nazis. This feels so strange to me! XD

If someone does a Downfall sub of Hitler's reaction to reading Rory/Hitler Whofic, will the internet implode?

The US government, apparently!

(Actually, I think they did actually contemplate Hitler's wang - or, more to the point, what hung below it. Wasn't there some plot where spies were going to slip estrogen into Hitler's food, thereby feminizing him and (by their hopes) making him less prone to war?)

I don't get real-person shipping anyway, even when it's about, like, porn stars. When it's about a genocidal megalomaniac who almost succeeded in wiping out an entire group of people? And he has a teeny little mustache? Um... what?

I dunno about his wang, but..

~~Hitler has only got one ball,

Himmler is somewhat sim'lar,
But poor Goebbels has no balls at all!~~

The first time I read this I thought it was about Tom McRae the singer and thought, "Oh hey, I love that guy! And he writes for Doctor Who, too?" Then I realized Tom McRae and Tom MacRae are two different people and the whole thing became slightly less awesome.

That said, Blogtor was posting from secret screeners without permission? Can you do that?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]phosfate
2011-09-04 10:15 pm UTC (link)
You can do it, but if you're caught, you'll get smacked - depending on who you are, what you've agreed to, and the PTB's power to smack, of course. (I doubt that Harry Shearer cares what Jerry Lewis thinks of his described a clandestine screening of The Day the Clown Cried.) If BW was being sent screeners and posted too much, at the very least they'd stop sending them. Emmy and Oscar screener copies often end up on eBay and/or YouTube.

Anyway, so, I thought MacRae threw a fit of epic proportions threatening to sue the pants off of the admins of Blogtor Who.

And then I read the wank and I just have one question:

Who posts that they leaked spoilers and teasers to TPTB? Seriously, what were they expecting?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

[info]harrylovesron
2011-09-05 04:20 am UTC (link)
You'd be surprised at how clueless people can be about that. A few days ago, one of the (now-former) admins of a Dana Delany fansite got their hands on the season premiere of Body of Proof (which doesn't air until the 20th) and proudly Tweeted that they were watching it at Dana. Her reaction was more or less "uhm, you know that's illegal right?".

Still, though, you do have to wonder... do they think they'll be impressed or something? "Oh my, you're such dedicated fans!!"

where did these come from?

So is this supposed to be read as, "where did these come from, you thieving asshole?"

Or more like, "where did these come from? I'm concerned about some of these clips being leaked early" ? Which is the way I'm reading it, by the way.

I can't really tell.
