Reading friendsfriends on LJ, I came across this:
I thought fans were supposed to be intelligent and above the high-school level crap. IMO, f_w and associated groups have a useful purpose, and a lot of it is damn funny, but there's a level of maliciousness that chills me lately. I see it everywhere.
An interesting post, if I don't quite agree with the implied similarities between what FW does and cruelty to young children and the mentally handicapped. Some very interesting comments, as well, unsurprisingly mostly dealing with DomLijah.
ETA: And yet another thought-provoking essay on the subjects of fanpower and the actor as social currency by auralonde.
(Um. Look at me posting serious things instead of pointing and laughing material - bad me! Will find some true wank soon to make up for it.)
