I'm just going to link to what is already a very thorough writeup, but let's just say that when I got to

she talked a lot about her boyfriend, Jeff, and her best friend, Lexie, and both of them actually had occasionally-used FF accounts and would sometimes participate in AIM chats with the rest of us

I knew exactly where this was going, and I think you will too. (With a bonus Facebook twist!) Commenter irishmizzy dubs it "CATFISH 2: EXPECTO PATRONUM," which is about the way of it.

Oh man. I saw this on fake_lj_deaths and knew it was gonna be goooooooooood.

The best part is that msscribe is tangentially involved in this (about 3/4 of the way through, one of the evidence posts actually references a wank that she posted). It's like she's the (even?) more batshit version of C******** C**[*]**.

Wow. I know we've seen people before who were their own "best friend" and I guess someone being her own brother isn't new either, but setting up a Facebook for him with sockpuppet commenters and a photo album takes some real dedication. (And yet I have no trouble believing that's exactly what she did.)

At first, when I saw that this fake death had happened more than 5 years ago, I was a little perturbed that someone would put so much effort into proving it's fakeness since obviously (to me), fake Jessie had finally grown up and moved beyond her childish sockpuppetry and emotional manipulations and isn't it a bit cruel to be dredging up all this past awfulness for someone who probably felt sorry and repented of her past stupid--- WHAT? SHE'S A MOD AT THIS FAN FORUM PLACE?! SHE IS STILL AN ACTIVE USER AND DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO HIDE HER TRACKS ENOUGH TO STOP USING THE ACCOUNT OF HER SUPPOSEDLY DEAD SELF?! WHAT?!!!

Amazing. Absolutely, absolutely amazing. I'm so glad she got banned from the place that she invested so much time and energy into deceiving.

Getting away with internet fake deaths--not just one, but most of the fake supporting cast dies as well-- is horrible. What an ass. Gigantic assbutt. I feel sorry for the FF members who were manipulated.

Psuicide is dangerous. I went to read, thought 'hmm, limeybean, sounds familiar', went to refresh my memory and voila! my day is gone.

I'm just amazed it took so long to be picked up. This is lazy to an extreme. The same account? Really? Hell, why not just use the same username too, and stay in the community your "dead" self was part of! Heck, why commit pseuicide at all?

Reading this took me right back to the summer I first discovered fake_lj_deaths...and the first time I read The Ms. Scribe Story in its entirety. Good times.

(I'm not sure what it says about me that this cheered me up so thoroughly when I was in a bad mood last night. Or that I've read The Ms. Scribe Story twice.)

The best part about this is FanForum wank is being reported! Man, when I hung out there in 2005-2006ish it was just teeming with wank, but it never made its way here. :( In fact, a friend of mine from back then is still on FF, and did her own digging into someone who was living a fake life.

Apparently, someone who was active when I was on FF made up her husband, made up her first child, made up her subsequent twins (they are always twins), made up her trips to Europe (the baby broke the camera, so she lost all the pics!), made up her journalism degree, made up her friendship with the PR person for some actor on Gossip Girl, made up having lunch with actors from Gossip Girl, etc.

None of this came to light until well after I was gone (all she had made up by then was the husband, journalism degree, and possibly her first pregnancy? though she may have made up miscarrying that one afterward), but it made a lot of sense once I knew.
