A good old-fashioned author freak-out, courtesy of Burn Notice fandom. Many thanks to the anon on wank_report for the links; I’ve used much of your wording this post. (Please note that while this is funny overall, the author in question does use a particular ableist insult. It has been taken out in the text below but is still visible in the two links marked with an asterisk.)

InvisibleRain is fairly well-known within the Burn Notice fandom, as both a fan artist and the author of Carry Me, a very long fic heavy on angst and, as she calls it, "Extreme Michael Whumpage". She also has a tendency to explode whenever she receives negative criticism, despite her repeated claims that she's open to feedback and wants to improve. Cue the events of this week:

Self-professed 'editor by profession' BurnerBabe leaves a review on the latest chapter of the fic:

oh...this is weird...is he raping her by any chance? ewww...um...as far as constructive criticism goes...i think u should take a break...cos u know this chapter is a little ...weird...lets make that...long break hmm? look i like this story but i think it needs a little ...reality check? id recommend reading some of the other stories on this site...cos they are much more realistic...nice try tho...id also recommend to chuck this story for a while cos its becoming a drag n the plot is non existent...sorry...but im an editor by profession...n i really think u have some potential...

InvisibleRain fires back* in an action-packed author's note worthy of Burn Notice itself:

Now, I'm sorry if you all got excited for a new chapter. I truly am. I love and adore each and everyone of you who had shared their interest and love towards my work on this fic. You each bring such excitement and joy as I read your gracious reviews. Your expressions and words make me smile and want to continue on.

... But i'm sick of these show called 'teachers" and "editors"... I've once again gotten a rude review...Seriously, get a fucking life.. you fucked up [redacted]. How about you come to Australia, to my fucking door step and tell me what you just wrote? I dare you... You'll get a punch to the face, a knee to the rib.. but OH NO wait, of course you wont, you're a fucking Troll who has no life... Listen up, and listen well you fucks; I have more followers than you think I do. I have had maybe...3 people in your little circle trying to bring me down, It didn't and will not work. In fact, I've had a lovely English teacher review me on tips on how to improve and I took it with arms wide open. Your hateful words mean nothing... it only sparks my interest to just BEAT YOU THE FUCK DOWN and keep writing and improving for those who adore and eagerly AWAIT my fic... Unlike some; I don't and I can't study at the moment, I don't spend every living moment writing, I have a life.. I have a Daughter... Whilst; I do need to work on my writing and everything involved with it. I plan to do some studying, but I really can't get the time to .. because i'd much rather watch and enjoy my baby girl than to prove you fucks wrong... Burnerbabe: ok...i was still on when that came...wow! ur just a bunch of cuss words arent't u? well i don't have a 'circle' as u call it...im just trying to make ur writing better...look...i believe that u have great potential from the way you write n i do understand ur home-front difficulty and i want u to realize that all i'm doing is helping u realize ur potential...i mean why do you ask for reviews- good or bad...if you can't swallow them down? just accept them...writing is something difficult...not everyone can do it...that doesn't mean u attack people...i didn't use a single abuse against you...n u seem to find it very important to justify yourself...my point is kinda proven isn't it? im just hoping for the best...

I did come expecting a chapter and was appalled by your vulgarity and immaturity. And if I am ever in Austraila I will say that to your face without such vulgar profanity! I haven't read what set you off, but don't ask for good or bad reviews if you only want positive. Just ignore the reviews you don't like. I won't read again, your outburst showed your true colors.

Angered by lovedietcoke's review, InvisibleRain then goes to lick her wounds on her Tumblr with more Allcaps!Rage and misuse of the word 'ironic':

It’s amazing how, people don’t understand the differences between ”a bad review” and a “RUDE review”. Whilst i can take bad reviews; ive had them before…. I don’t tolerate rude and disrespectful ones. Apparently; i’ve lost a reader because of my Outburst last night…. Because they don’t understand the context of a rude review. *rolls eyes* I’m so sad right now, i’m crying! i’ve lost ONE READER!!!!!! HELP ME PEOPLE….. *shakes head* …. i too, showed my true colours because i was swearing.. OMG I SAID A BAD WORD alot, BOO-HOO darling!… I showed my TRUE colours? YOU DON’T FUCKING KNOW ME!……………. EVERYONE get’s angry enough to swear…. and don’t you fucking tell me “do you kiss your daughter with that mouth”… Now this said person “lovedietcoke” who actually reviewed SIGNED IN, shocking!…. DID NOT read the review that sparked my rant….. How about they take a look at just how rude they were… *Sigh* Whatever.. People are just brain-dead…. A bad review is perfectly fine…… a rude and disrespectful one? No…. LOOK INTO IT.

The 'little circle' to which InvisibleRain refers seems to be these past reviewers:

Pink and purple poodles: ugh! this story is atrocious! i'm sorry but why do you keep bruising and battering that poor guy (Michael) n yet keep him alive? n all it seems Fiona can do is cry? look i know you are trying to create a different dimension but you need to improve your writing honey :( i am an English teacher by profession so poor tenses really turn me off. I wish you'd make Fiona a stronger character the way she is on TV. I'm sure you know that Michael is with her because he likes her independence. and please try to add some humor :) also - "Blaine whipped out his gun, cocking it and resting the 'muffle' against Michael's forehead." it's not 'muffle' sweetheart it's 'muzzle' :) the effort was great child, you just need to clear your thinking style. i deal with teenagers all the time who have vivid imaginations like you but don't know how to express it. don't lose courage, you can be a great writer when you grow up :) i'm sure you can ask your teachers for assistance :)

PSU93Girl: This has the makings of a very interesting story but it's just so choppily written. It makes it very hard to read. For example, if you revised your quotes to read like thi:

"Did you find anything?" Fi instantly asked, looking down at him...

Rather than making them two lines, it makes the story flow SO much better.

Another example:

"What does he want?" she asked as questions started flying around reslessly in her mind, creating a tornado of mind-blowing thoughts and images.

It's just so much smoother and easier to read.

Please don't be discouraged, you've got a good start and with a little polish it could be great.


InvisibleRain is also not above begging for reviews and threatening to flounce if she doesn't get them:

Chapter 29: Again, I'm sorry for the Delay. I'm rather upset that I hadn't been receiving many reviews, it came to point that was to give up. But it seems that is telling you that you've already reviewed the chapter, when you haven't. There's a simple way around it; just comment autonomously, but your name as the name you log in as, so I know who you are. That way; I know you're all still reading and enjoying, since it seems I've lost some readers :(. I do hope i'm not losing any, because it'd break my heart if I did, it'd only tell me I'm doing something wrong... I need you guys to tell me, tell me what you enjoy and love, how much you want to keep reading etc, please. It's the only thing that keeps me going! Thank-you everyone! You're all truly amazing!


Chapter 34: Author's Note (MUST READ):

This is an ALTERNATE ENDING to Carry Me. It is NOT the official ending. I felt that I'd end this because of the lack of reviews lately (Besides Chapter 32).The Official ending is nowhere near last chapter and is much more intense and involves the original plot line. If I get encouraged to go forth and have reviews insisting and sharing their love for this fic, I WILL continue on as normal and Delete this chapter. Reviews and enthusiasm is what us writers crave, we need it to keep going. If we don't, we feel our work is not appreciated and therefore not good enough to continue with. I hope you all are eager to see this fic through and find out what happens.. otherwise, this fic is Done. PLEASE Let me know on how you feel and how much you'd like this to continue...

I never get any decent comments expressing WHY the art is genuine, all i ever get is a mass load of stupid [stars]'s... seriously; clicking a button tells an artist NOTHING.
