Well yes, Bleach fandom DOES wank about non-shippy stuff!
Okay, so the Bleach fandom has been kinda quiet lately. (Either that, or the usual quarrels don't get out of their media). All in all, no real change...

Until chapter 474 happens, with a rather "surprising" twist. [spoilers ahoy, obviously]

Fandom's reaction?

WTF?

KUUUUUUUUUUUUUBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Some tiny jewels are:

debbiechan: You people are way too quick to beLIEve a villain before you have the whole story--just like you were with Isshin and Urahara. Geez. There's no way Ukitake is a VILLAIN. He may have put something into gear but you dare doubt his motives? This is the Isshin/Urahara are the bad guys all over again--another "brocken spotlight" or distortion of perspective and a classic Kubo trick. Look at Kubo's title--it tells you what to "BeLIEve."

shinigamixninja... are you serious??? Ukitake? Our innocent, sickly Shiro captain??? That is just ... unbelievable... But if what Ginjo says is true, then Ukitake is a REALLY great schemer & actor, even better than Aizen! But.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Pesanteouse
Ukitake!?!? D: I did not see that coming...well I don't think anyone did? :P
But it's kind of the same as Aizen! Both seemed to be really nice in the beginning...and Ukitake was the one that gave Ichigo the badge but didn't tell him about Ginjou (Hitsugaya seemed to think that was strange right?).
Uuuuugh, I wonder if I shall check through every Ukitake moment in the whole manga to find some clues...but maybe Kubo hadn't thought of it then so then it would be very unnecessary >.<'

Saiyan5ninetail: As much as you might be jumping the gun, Bala de Impacto, I worry a bit now for Rukia's position. Ichigo did hear Rukia over the badge, which would mean that Ichigo will know that Rukia is aware of the ulterior functions of the Badge. If these hesitations take hold of Ichigo, he might go on to tell Inoue and Sado about it, which would effectively isolate Rukia from the Nakama. I do not know if Kubo will really go so far, but what if they feel that this is a "betrayal"?

*sigh* If this does turn out to be the case, I can imagine certain groups rubbing it in the fandom's faces.

Chi13iMike (sp?)
The issue I see with Rukia speaking in Ichigo's defense through the badge is that, if she is now aware of the badge's purpose and SS's designs on Ichigo, then she is being rather disturbingly OK with it. Which means that they most likely coerced or convinced her of it's necessity somehow in order to get her to go along with it, and if that's the case, it really does make her suspect. Not because she would knowingly go along with something that would potentially bring harm to Ichigo, but that she may UNKNOWINGLY go along with something that could bring harm to Ichigo.

So, in summary, Ichigo's bonds of friendship may be of the highly f***ed up variety after this arc is over. Inoue and Chad's friendship with Ichigo has been revealed to have limits, and both have shown that given correct circumstances they can and WILL betray Ichigo (of course all while believing they are in the right. This is the true terror of the BotE since Tsukishima never directly controled either of them, he simply inserted himself into a position of JUST enough importance so that both of them to demonstrate that neither of them are really on Ichigo's side "no matter what"), the same was done with his family and friends (though to a lesser degree, but it once again showed that his friends really do have a limits on their belief in him). Now Ichigo's faith in the shinigami and SS (and thus Rukia, his main nakama and ally) is being shaken as well with this newest revelation.

Really, the only one left that he can really trust anymore is pretty much Ishida (I hope for an Ishi/Ichi vs. the World scenario). Of course we all know that these bonds will be mended, but more and more I am beginning to suspect/hope that this arc really WILL have more dire and long term consiquences than I originally thought. And that makes me very happy.

And wank report has its own thoughts on this. (Warning, some parts might be toeing into unfunny)

[runs out of popcorn. Still, NOT-shipping Bleach wank was VERY needed]
